Be'lakor

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys.
Another thread here started the other day started my mind wandering.

Can you or it it possible to build a CSM list round Be'lakor.
I ask the question as Be'lakor is possibly my fave character in the warhammer universe and i adore his model. I'm also hopeless when it comes to the rules and haven't owned a codex in years.

Thanks

It is possible to integrate Be'lakor into your CSM army. The easiest way would be to simply run him as a CSM Daemon Prince with wings and sword, you would have to pick a chaos god he follows, which wouldn't be fluffy, though.  You could also have a separate detachment of Daemons where he is an HQ choice. The least favorable option would be to put him in the same detachment as your CSM. Then however you lose your legion benefits for the CSM and the benefits a daemon detachment would get.

Since I haven't looked at the rules for be'lakor in a long time, I have no Idea what he would bring to a CSM army.

As said above, belakor can be good with the night lords (in a separate daemon detachment).

The big weakness for him in list building is that having him with other god’s Daemons loses the locus (I.e. advance and charge for slaanesh, reroll charges for Khorne) which is a bit of a blow.

Not really if you take him in a separate aux detachment for 1 CP.

You "sacrifice" a detachment for Be'lakor anyway. The only question is do you want to take units without detachment benefits with him or not.

Be'lakor, with the rules of Be'lakor, can only be in a DAEMONS dettachment because of Battle Brothers (If you are using that rule) and his limited faction keywords. If you want to take him with CSM you have a few options.

1) Auxilary: Lose 1 CP and 1 Dettachment, not ideal, but least point expenditure.

2) Patrol: Take a unit of lesser Daemons. They don't cost much, but can be useful. You don't have a locus, but that's ok since most of what you have is CSM. You can even use Daemon strats to deepstrike them. Plaguebearers or Bloodletters are good.

3) A full on DAEMONS dettachment with Be'lakor as HQ and a 3rd supreme command DAEMONS dettachment to gain Loci. This requires more dettachments, but gets around Be'lakor preventing loci.

If you want a fluffy terror army, Night Lords Host Raptorial with Black Legion Bringers of Despair, and a DAEMONS dettachment with Be'lakor and NURGLE furies would be cool. I say Nurgle furies because they have Disgustingly Resilient, flying shields.

This this this! Honestly dude this sounds awesome.

Would chaos hounds/khorne hounds fit into this list or do they need to be unaligned for be'lakor?

You read Ahriman Exodus didn't you?

Personally, I would bring him with a unit of nurglings or furies. Then use all the new CSM goodness to splurge on.

No lol is there something I posted that would suggest I did?

A Daemonkin list would actually benefit quite a lot from Be'lakor as he could buff any of the Possessed or Greater Possessed regardless of God allegiance.

You guys keep making the sound better and better.

I thank you all for it.

I actually have a terror based rules list for each major chaos faction.

Summoning a Slaanesh Prince or Herald for the psychic powers is a great idea. If you have the points available, Zarakynel is really good. Potential-3 Ld+ psychic power dealing 2D6 - enemy Ld as mortal wounds. That's how you turn terror on characters.

You're welcome.

Also, they way specialist dettachments work, you can include Haarken in a Bringers of Despair dettachment even though he's not a terminator. He just won't gain the keyword and therefore won't have the special rules. That 18" aura is nice though, a lot of field coverage.
