Future of Logan

So, I've been thinking, how does Ragnar B become primaris while also becoming more important.

1. Logan gets mashed, but doesn't die, he gets to be Bjorn v2. Same statline, with an axe and shield (3++ for him I think, not 4) or can swap out the shield for AC or HF.

2. Ragnar becomes the new CM, in gravis and a new primaris drop pod arrives.

We have awesome dreadnoughts, the buffs for a new Logan vatiant could be made to be really great, plus - his sleigh is not a good look, he would be the last non-primaris character to become a non-primaris dread, and Ragnar B getting the treatment would open the door for our other characters to follow suit.

Yes? No? Just a thought.

i don't think they'll retire Logan anytime soon - his model is too new. same for Ulrik. I can definitely see Njal, Canis and Lukas dying or becoming primaris. Ragnar is almost assuredly becoming primaris, but i'd like for his surgery to be elective rather than forced onto him by injury

They don't kill characters that have worthwhile models and they certainly don't kill characters that have recent plastic kits. Logan's current kit is brand new and replacing it already would be wasteful.

Logan is not getting an update and he's not getting murdered. He's an elder character who rules with wisdom more than strength of arm, so he doesn't really need to go Primaris to seem more impressive (like Ultimately). He also has the Storm Rider thing going for him to up his profile.

What I CAN see them doing is making a new Primaris Grimnar kit you can buy on its own but is is also compatible with Stormrider. Then they also can rebox and package the new Primaris Grimnar with the current Stormrider kit (email becoming a kit that lets you build both Primaris or Terminator Logan).

Logan gets his Primaris upgrade, people who just want Logan on his own can get him, the Stormrider kit isn't made defunct, people who already own Stormrider can buy a single model and swap him so he's current if they want... Everyone's happy.

My money is on Ragnar getting Primaris then over the coming years Njal when we get Primaris TDA, then Ulrik non-TDA.

OR

Lukas dupes the Primaris medical staff into giving him the upgrade meant for Ragnar (the old switching the tables routine).

Ragnar for sure become a Primaris soon, I can't believe that model is still in existence! For such a key character (it's his company markings you get in every box for some reason) with such an atrocious an old model, it's really odd.

Logan will probably stay around in model for but start moving into the background a bit in the Lore. Shame he's gone from leading the defence against the 13th Black Crusade (rather successfully!) to not really doing anything in the recent storyline re-write but I guess we have our Spiritual Liege back now (booooo!)....

I've wanted the Young King to become the High King for some time now. Logan's disappearance during Magnus' assault on Fenris would have been the ideal time to do it. Like others have said though it's not going to happen given the age of Logan's model. We should see a primaris Ragnar though and I had a thought about that too that I've mentioned before. We know that Ragnar is famed for his drop pod assaults. We also know Primaris marines cannot use drop pods. Well what if we get a Primaris Ragnar in a customized suit of MK X Phobos armour? Calgar gets custom Gravis, all Aggressor style. Reiver style could fit Ragnar given its description of being used to drop in from low orbit.

“Their sleek and lightweight Mk X Phobos armour can be fitted with grav-chutes that allow the Reivers to be dropped into battle from low orbit. The grav-chutes’ paired fins are used to guide the Reivers’ descent, allowing them to glide along mountain ridges and around hive spires without leaving the contrail of a jump pack or Drop Pod, which would alert the enemy to their presence.”

Grav-chutes and drop pods have similar deployment rules too. Plus I could swear I read something about Ragnar embracing and using Reivers a lot. The Young King becomes the Reiver Lord? And while Reivers are described as akin in demeanor to Scouts, I feel like they have a lot in common with Blood Claws too, being the only Primaris thus far who have the option of going all close combat focused (pistols and swords).

I'd like to see grimnar take a seat on the highlords of Terra for some reason. Or some like position

Or

Grimnar and his company becoming the wandering Lord. Prolonged expeditions gone for 100 ~ years at a time.

He relinquehes his current role to Ragnar

Hm. Considering the battering we've been taking the last 5 years, I think killing Logan unless it means the return of Russ will make irate our fan base since only Russ returning could mean Logan dying is not another straight up defeat.

Now I don't mind Logan dying so the young king can rise, I'd like that, but I feel like we need a major victory in our next campaign, not a marginal, not a pyrrhic.

But if we can get the magic move of Russ returns and Ragnar finally ascends, I'm happy for Logan to die, but I'd prefer he retired instead and remained in the council.

Maybe I'm a wierdo but I just don't really care about Ragnar all that much. Logan is my dude. Shocking I know, coming from a CotGW player.

And to me, it´s Lukas. Each their own.

What they could do with Logan is make him take stink eye to Primaris. Knowing wolves, they take stink eye to every outsider really anyways.

I mean yea, the whole fluff behind the Months of Shame is why I'm #ForeverLogan.

This for me as well. Well that and the roughly 18,000 points of CotGW I have. Not all painted mind but I'm trying lol.

This would be massively out of character for Logan. He would never turn away Marines who shared his blood. He went to bat for the Wulfen, launched rescue a mission on the rumour of a lost Wolf Brother, went to the bat for to their Armageddon allies to insane degrees.

The only problem I have with Curse of the Wulfen was the oathbreaking being out of character for the entire Chapter.

Apart from that one issue, the entire rest of the Lore is sensible given what is presented. Logan didn't want to have the entire planet that was in the Fenris system that wasn't Fenris, I forget the name, but it was not fully culled, I think, but it was pretty reliably devastated. As far as things go, other than the above oathbreaking there's not one thing out of character.

Logan is no fool, and is a 100% realistic idealist. He'll go for the ideal, but settle for realistic when he knows there's no other way.

My thought was not about Logan dying, that is not a good idea. I said what if he became a dreadnought - fought to the end in a cataclysmic battle and was saved by the priests. I like dreadnoughts. Character varients in particular. I'm modelling a *chaplain* venerable to sit back with Bjorn and rock out four untouchable LC shots a turn hitting on 2's - with saga of the beastslayer they, after a good turn one, could be wounding T8 on 2's. Hmmm to that. Adding Logan to go run up in front of them with Murderbox was a whimsical fancy, but I thought worth posting. We are not going to get another ancient master in a sarcophagas from anywhere else, that I can think of, that would advance the great saga.

To clarify, I never said "lets kill our badass as +×÷= chapter master."

Lol don't think you are. If I had to pick now I'd totally go with Logan as my favourite, but Ragnar is who I started this hobby for 24 years ago when I was a child!
