Joeker's Blood Dragons WIP thread

Got the first few issues of conquest - so i built a few intercessors. And then started painting them - and a few other guys I had sitting around. No shading or highlighting yet, and several colours still missing (particularly leadbelcher) but I thought i'd pop up work in progress for feedback. My basic colour scheme is black body/red pauldrons with role appropriate helmets.

Lieutenant

Reiver Sgt (the only guy with some shading and high lights). I had modelled him with knife and carbine, hence the unprimed arm on him now.

Thanks.

The reiver’s helmet is white because I haven’t worked out where my yellow paint is since I moved house. I’ve got a couple more reivers from issue three to paint tonight. And I’ll add the leadbelcher where it belongs.

The lieutenant is a primaris who earnt his place in the sang guard, but he and the chapter artificers don’t have his SG armour ready yet (and won’t till GW does a primaris SG). [new head cannon since the story about Calgar as first upgrade came out. Before that it was like you said]. He’s not a reviver though. It’s a regular pistol and his sword got cropped out.

We played through the first tutorial battle in conquest. After a hard fought battle, my son’s three intercessors defeated my death guard. The three plague marines took out the sergeant and one of the intercessors, then they fell to the bolts of the last son of Sanguinius.

Sango Kavaliro Frato Terursen (Sanguinary Knight Brother Terursen) of the Blood Dragons. This guy is my test run for my Idomitus Pattern guys (I wouldn't have used a space hulk guy as test, but my 'regular' ones aren't primed and its too humid in Australia to spray this week...). I need to tidy up around the eyes, drill the bolters, and maybe redo the gems - I used the technical gem paints - tried mixing red and blue to make a purple for the right shoulder.

(The space hulk model is Brother Deino, which I've decided is a homophone for Dino - as in "terrible (lizard)" so I translated "Terrible" into Esperanto - the language I'm using for my chapter's homeworld - and then added a Scandinavian name ending onto it as most of the settles on Nova Baal were Scandinavian).

Warden Knudsen is a great conversion! What parts have you used for the body?

Warden Jens Nygaard Knudsen is Commander of the Boneguard, Officer of the Blood Dragons of Nova Baal. The bone guard are tasked with collecting or destroying all Blood Dragon fallen. They also guard the mausoleum where the bodies that can be collected rest in stasis, until their knowledge and skills can be passed on to new marines via canabalistic rituals.

Body from legion of the damned

crozius and arm a combination of the BA chaplain with JP (where the JP came from also) and a Sanguinary guard’s arm and axe.

Fist from a FW heresy weapon set of some sort. Left shoulder from a Sang Guard as well.

I grabbed all the LotD I could from GW when they went to legend. I’ll be running the others as sternguard I think - fluff wise they’re the boneguard.
