I'm not looking for the most Uber competitive list obviously since I'm including 20 possessed, but I'd like it to be fun to play. I know very little about Daemons and was wondering if any of you guys had advice for what to support these guys with?

I was thinking a couple big Horrors units for shooting? Maybe a bloodletter bomb?

Since your Possessed already occupy the daemons job as daemonic melee infantry I'd concentrate more on utility units I'd say.

  • Heralds for the strength buff for nearby daemonic units and psychic powers
  • Fiends for a quick harassing unit (shooty units without FLY will hate them if the opponent has no melee unit nearby) which have a neat anti-psyker aura
  • Infernal Enrapturess for another neat anti-psyker aura and some decent shooting while being protected by the character keyword
  • Flesh Hounds for more deny the witch attempts
  • Karanak for two more deny the witch attempts and a neat character hunter
  • Skullcannons for some more decent shooting
  • Horrors to sit on objectives (leave some reinforcement points open so they can split)
  • Nurglings for an annoying infiltrating ObSec unit that can be surprisingly durable thanks to their 5+++
  • Generaly the Greater Daemons as big fat distraction carnifex so your Possessed are more likely to reach the enemys lines (plus they all except for the Bloodthirster are psykers)

I don’t know if this go against the flavour of your army, but consider adding a mark to all your possessed models? That way you can buff them with the appropriate demon herald for another +1 Str. If you go nurgle for example you can take a herald with fleshy abundance to heal the GP, or take miasma of Pestilence and put it on a

Blob of possessed marines.

I mainly play nurgle so that’s all I got!

Ok, so I think this will give me some decent horror shooting, and some decent nurgle coverage, plus 2 Daemon Princes.

My advice: Take one Battalion with 3 Nurgling bases and whatever characters you want, forget about Mono-god here as you only lose the Loci, which arent that great anyways, at least for Tzeentch and Nurgle. (I see your Tzeentch Detachement is mixed anyway) and then summon in what you need. For this, your CSM characters should be unmarked and you could include one of each Herald.

Yeah, I've thought about summoning, with the MOP incursion spell, but it seems like it'd be a very slow piecemeal addition of daemons, where if I bring them in their own detatchment I get 10 CP, and get then all at once.

Does the Thousand sons DP really cancel out the loci? He is a Tzeentch Daemon.

The advantage of summoning is, that you can choose after you see what your opponent brings and where. Also why you want to limit yourself to the MoP? Every character can summon. The Psykers and Chaoslords that are holding the back line, the Greater Possessed already in combat, the Herald that has no business except casting and summoning.

And yes, a TS DP is a Tzeentch Daemon, but he is not of the Tzeentch Daemon faction.

Looking at his list he doesn't have much of a backline though. Everything he has wants to move forward except for maybe the Cultists. So regular summoning would be a pretty crappy choice as it usually is most of the time.

That being said, keeping points open to summon something small like a new Herald or such is still not a bad idea.
