GW Drop Pod as 'Counts As' Lucius Pattern Drop Pod

Not sure if this is the right place for this question or not, but I'd like to use a Lucius Pattern Drop Pod to drop in a Dreadnought w/MM & DCCW for a Codex: Space Marines army.

Would there by any issue, or can I use a standard GW Drop Pod model (with out the internal bits) as a counts as Lucius Pattern Drop Pod since the actual model from FW is now OOP?

Thank.

I do this often; I simply just remove the internals and weapon from the regular Pod.

However, it should be noted that the OOP model is larger than the GW Pod and the revamped one will be larger still - be advised that this *may* cause a problem for some gamers (easier to hide, smaller footprint for Deep Strike, "modelled by for advantage", etc).

As with any counts-as, it's best to clear it in advance with your opponent/group/tournament/whatever to avoid any problems down the line; you don't want to put it down for Deployment and have your opponent pack up.

As far as official rules go, it is anticipated that you will use actual models but what you do in your own games (i.e house rules, counts-as, etc) is up to you.

I'd allow it in a friendly game.

But if I was a tournament organizer I'd probably not allow it in my tournament.

There's no official ruling I know of regarding counts-as, but it could definitely be viewed as modeling for advantage.

Are you SURE that the drop pod is OOP? Because the new version is right here.

That being said, I'd personally have no issue with it, but there is a matter of size. As in: the GW one is roughly half the size of the new World Dreadnought Drop Pod.
