Non-Rubric Rubric conversion

For my BL I want to make a squad of Rubric marines using a pile of DV chosen and wondering the best way to represent the bolter, ideally by converting regular CSM bolters. Maybe some sort of barrel mod, using fantasy chaos weapon hilts or something.

I personally don't like the too-obvious Egyptian style of the real models, just want tzeentch-enlightened specialist looking dudes.

I have a bunch of 30k volkite rifles I could also use somehow, though its not a rules match i doubt anyone would notice/care.

Anyone use count-as rubrics before?

What about converting up the thunder strike cross bows or whatever they are called from the storm cast range?

I'd suggest just swapping the heads on the regular Rubricae and maybe the backpacks with some of the new standard CSM ones. The Inferno Bolters have only the tzeentchian birdfaces on them, if this is to much for you there are even some without those bird ornaments. The runes are what make the inferno bolter obvious. If you want to use the DV chosen, you can just free hand some glowing runes and sigils on then weapon casing and you're good. Any TS player would recognize what this means.

I converted some plasma-chosen back in 7th for my black legion with a heavy tzeenchian theme (Sons of the Cyclops). It's more the paintjob than anything else that makes them stand out amongst other BL troops, so that would be something to try.

All but two are DV chosen, two of those are converted raptors.

Asafresser I've done something similar already as chosen in my gallery, but i swapped heads. This time ill likely keep the chosen style heads (though do have some of those forsaken heads about, like that one) and yes paintjob is important if I ever get around to painting them

In this case I already have the core models so no intention of going and buying the rubrics.

As for the crossbow idea... made me think of what other xenos stuff I might have to upprofile bolters, like DE bits like leftover shredder muzzles drilled out.

I'm fond of sticking those small gargoyle heads from the chaos vehicle sprue to represent whatever weapon I need the unit to be holding, maybe that could be a plan?

I know the gargoyle heads you mean, rounded up a bunch too, but the smallest one is still quite wide and that conversion is rather cliche nowadays.

I do regret not chopping this guys head, i might have a go at losing his side horns and adding some straight forward ones instead, loki style, from the daemon skulls in the skulls box.

The gun is simple, based on the shoulder strapped rifle found on the pf chosen, carved down to the circle and voila! The fluff I invisioned involves strapping the skull of a possessed mortal psyker into the weapon, infusing the rounds with warp potency, sort of a controlled daemon weapon (daemon bound to mortal, mortal carefully sacrificed to trap the daemon, then skull/bones infused into the bolter)

I got more of the team built with the horn concept going on.. I like it in a earthy occult sense, though some of the posing is getting janky (my old CSM bitz box is wearing thin)

I still have a bunch of symbols from the SoH etched brass that will go on their shoulders, so scraping left sides down.

I’m also keeping wysiwyg so that means scraping off bolt-pistol holsters (leftmost is sorc, going to ‘empty’ his holster) The most common base chosen, the one wielding the bolter, is going to be a challenge to use as 5th man. His side-arm is heavily ingrained into his thigh/belt so maybe can turn it into a pouch?
