Kaldoth's AL Plog

So, been out of the hobby a while.  Was pretty hard into my Ork army once their new codex dropped, but then all the Chaos releases happened and I just couldn't help but get sucked back into the warp induced madness that is this particular subforum  So, I picked up a box of the new Chaos marines and after griping for a few hours about how huge of a pain in the ass they are to assemble compared to the old ones, I picked my brushes back up and started painting.  So, here's the first one I painted:

I took a picture of this guy before he was completely done.  Thought the armor was still a little too blue, so I hit it with a green glaze and that dulled it down a bit more.  Might keep playing with the color palette, but I'm starting to hone in on the blue-green I'm after :happy.: I'm an abysmally slow painter, but I'm hoping to get this first squad done within the next week.  The list I'm going after is as follows:

Still 13 points left over, no clue what to do with them.  Any C&C on the list would be appreciated! I'm hoping to get an update on the rest of them by next weekend so I'll have more to show then.

Cheers!

Very nice Alpha Legionaire you’ve painted up! An army of them will look great! I really like the armor but the grey skin with the subtle purple around the the creases about the eyes looks good.

I wish I could chime in on the list but I am way out of whack with current rules.

Why don't you make one squad dual chaingun and one squad dual plasma?

Mainly because I don't like putting all of my eggs in one basket. If there are three equivalently equipped squads, it doesn't give my opponent a reason to choose one over the other besides range or convenience. It also keeps me from losing the majority of my plasma or chain cannons in the event of a unit wipe. For a gun line list, I've found an even spread of equal threats across the board hinders your opponent's decision making skills as far as where to commit and what to commit there in the event they have to choose between flank A or flank B, objective A or objective B, etc :) It makes things more predictable on my end. I tried to build the list around balance and threat response. The three squads of csms handle the chaff, havocs get tucked safely in the back and handle enemy armor, while the brutes and crawlers get spaced evenly through the line primarily as deep strike deterrant, though throwing out a decent amount of firepower on their own where necessary.
