Mustering The Rout for Vegas

Heading to an actual for realsies Tournament in June (ew competitive play). Not terribly excited about competitive format in general and I'm fully aware that Wolves are basically tied for the bottom tier along with Grey Knights so far this edition and I largely refuse to run a “soup” army. All that said, I dont expect to show well win wise, BUT my army is going to look dope.

 

To that end I'm going to bombard you nice Wolfy folks with my progress. Trying to be build finished by the end of the month and into painting and practice battles throughout May.

I've long considered running a Wolves army myself, but I've neither the time nor money to invest in any Imperium force besides my overall "Forces of Ragnarus" narrative. That being said, you're looking good so far. Love the conversions.

Cheers folks, appreciate the support. I absolutely loooooathe competitive play, so the push to make my stuff look cool is whats got me motivated here. That and I think my list is just off model enough to smash a couple people who arent expecting my particular brand of crazy. :D

 

Prototyping my Wolf Scouts, still a TON of cleanup to do on him, those WarmaHordes plastics are hot garbage as far as mold lines and such, but I think these are headed in the direction I want overall. Needs some more Wolfy bitz and pouches as well to get rid of the wasp waist look.

Im still noodling with the list a  tiny bit, trying desperately to find the points to put a Thunder Hammer on that Biker Battle Leader, but the only room I have to cut is one of the power fists from the Grey Hunter packs. :/ I already had to cull the WGPL from the Scouts as I'd forgotten to cost the twin bolters on the bikes... ugh.

 

@Karack It's really more about haveing a 20+ year deep bitz box than it is any real level of skill on my part, but I appreciate the sentiment. :D

So... this is what I'm running next weekend. It's basically locked at this point as I have to submit it later today, BUT the one thing Im debating is whether to burn the extra CP for Armor of Russ on someone, and by someone I mean either the Wolf or Rune Priest. I dont think Wulfen Stone gets me much in this list so that's really not on my radar.

I like the bikes with SS and storm bolter. I’ve thought about running something similar. Fast, durable, and insane amounts of dakka.

 

I’m curious what the inquisitor is for.

Extra anti psyker and making peoples Castellans shoot their own stuff/damage themselves when you use Dominate on it.   It's gimmickey but something I want to try. That way I can bring an Assassin other than the Culexis if I'm only mildly worried about psyker spam, but against 1KSons for example, I can have extra redundancies, also she can pick out Psyker/Daemon characters to shoot, combined with the snipers, that should let me remove some key casters. At least in theory...

And it gave me an excuse to convert up "Inquisitor Munin" as a countsas because I dont actually like the Greyfax model. Thats probably the best reason.

I give you the esteemed Inquisitor Munin. I actually have grand plans for a 2 model base as the countsas with Inquisitor Huginn, but that isn't in the cards for this week and might be pushing it for a competitive environment as it will need a bigger base and all of that and I don't feel like having that argument.

 

He was meant to be basecoated black, but... mistakes were made, no biggee though, easy to fix.

Im thinking largely black/bone/gold and then some sort of brown for the fur pelt on his back. I maaaay go for blue/purpleish tint on the robe, but I want to steer the first glance visual away from the base genestealey color scheme so he's CLEARLY not that guy.

I'll get another couple shots after this work call Im on, he's really notmuch different than the stock model tbh. I just dremelled off the hunchback and covered it with a greenstuff fur pelt and a sword/pistol crossdraw on his back and thats about it.

 

Ugly ugly gap that Im surprised the plastic glue didnt fix during assembley, ew.

Gaps are easy enough to fix. Possibly add some GS wax seal to the parchments? Nothing says =][= like purity seals!

I thought about that. I kinda like the nailed on seals though, it may still happen depending on how the 2 model base shakes out, it may need more Inquisitey stuff to pull it together.
