How many daemon hammers + which relics?

Recommended Posts

Didn't really want to create a whole new thread for this. But couldn't find anything recent that was suitable.

Just a quick one. How many daemon hammers do you guys use?

Does anyone still put them on justicars or on power armour at all?

Best performance I know is on high WS characters or paragons.

But just seeing how many people use is all.

Or is it just better to save points, give a squad helberds and use hammerhand?

As an add-on.

Which relics are most in use?

I like the damage 4 hammer, but technically costs 13pts, and the fury of deimos is now totally worth it!

Hammers on Apothecaries are awesome. They hit on 3s with a hammer and heal themselves. Plus, they're 88 points total. Hammers on Grand Masters are good with their rerolls. Honestly, the fragility of our troops makes giving them hammers a risky venture.

The only relics I ever take are the Cuirass of Sacrifice (which I usually throw on my Hammer Apothecary) and the Banner of Refining Flame. But, honestly, the Banner so rarely works out with teleport distances and TDA base speed that it hardly seems worth the slot.

The GK player in my group always puts them on Apothecaries. They've been MVPs repeatedly. Personally I'd put the hammers on everything with at least 3 attacks. 2 attacks at WS3+ is just not a good return for the investment that are hammers since you'd get only one hit on average.

So really nobody uses a lot of hammers these days?

How do you all deal with high toughness target's playing pure GK? Do you just rely on lucky 6s and dreadknights?

Long range

- Twin Las/Autocannon Dreads

Mid range

- Dreadknights with Psychic Onslaught

Close range

- Dreadknights

- Draigo-Apothecary (with DHammer) combo

- GKTs with Halberds (Justicar with DHammer) + Hammerhand.

So a bit of everything already mentioned. Still not ideal, as high toughness targets will always be a general weakspot for mono-GKs. But there is prediction that the meta will shift to more mass infantry, so are inherent stormbolter will an advantage again.

Smite spam is always good for knocking wounds off high toughness units.
