April 2019 FAQ/update

The april 2019 FAQ/update is available now at the usual place:

https://www.warhammer-community.com/faqs/

The errata for most codices has also been updated.

For GSC, the main changes are:

  • mental onslaught stops if the enemy rolls a 6.
  • units coming in from cult ambush can move (and count as not having moved if they didn't).
  • (most) cult brood brother units (e.g. sentinels, leman russes, heavy weapons squads) count as the same datasheet as their astra militarum counterparts now for datasheet limits (rule of 3), e.g. can only take up to 3x3=9 leman russ total (+3 tank commanders) in any combination of astra militarum/GSC.
  • <brood brother> astra militarum units got a clarification on how they work, e.g. can use orders but no regiment specific ones, no ordering ogryns.
  • they came from below: only first turn and once per battle now.
  • sanctus relic sniper doesn't blow up psykers (unless there are multiple psykers in the unit).
  • lying in wait: only on units set up underground.

So, what do you think about the changes introduced in this FAQ/update?

Imho there is nothing completely unexpected in the FAQ/update this time.

Feel like you either glossed over or didn't notice a couple things.  The coming from ambush is specific to the tokens not underground.  Came from below now explicitly says you can't arrive turn 1, and the orders rule got clarified that you can't have a field command give order to scions or by extenion a tempestor prime can't drop in to give order to a vet/infantry squad, which some people were previously doing.

Overall though agree nothing really unexpected.  Don't think any of it really matters too much.

Regarding the Sanctus with Relic: Not as I read it - a psyker can still explode if hes still alive before Perils takes effect and kills them. But if they die from the shot itself then there is no Perils.

And yeah Turn 2 for They Came From Below. Not that big of a deal - Im just glad they addressed it. Honestly after my last game Im starting to feel that coming in T2 in a huge wave is better than coming via underground piecemeal. Take stuff that can blast through enemy screen chaff T1 and open a hole for the undergrounders - this is really what makes mortars gold for GSC.

Cult Ambush - Units revealed by markers dont count as having moved and may move in their own movement phase. Doesnt apply to undergrounders... this was how I read/played it - Im not sure what the confusion was for an FAQ question there?
