Primaris Intercessors (Recasts)

Recommended Posts

Decided I'd post my progress with these guys since I've made several posts about the trouble they've been giving me on more than one occasion.

Biggest issue I'm dealing with at the moment is getting rid of the excess resin on three of the packs.

For reference, here's what they looked like at first:

Jump Packs with Extra Bits

Jump Packs With Excess

Here's where they are now. Not sure how much more I'll be able to fix them up.

Efforts to Remove Excess Resin Thus Far

Shaved down the back of one marine so far since the part of the pack that's supposed to join there is plugged with resin.

Flat Back Marine

I hope that once I get to attaching arms, heads and shoulder pads things will start to move along faster.

UPDATE 1:

UPDATE 3: 10/10 Intercessors Assembled

A couple of days late, but they're finally all put together.

The final four.

The Last Four

Complete squad.

Ten-Man Squad

And just added the final touch last night by gluing their bolt pistols and a handful of knives to the men of this squad, not that it's very visible in the photo.

Final Additions

Like when you made the mold of the backback did you do a mold that has two halves, and you fit them together before pouring the resin? Or did you put the master in the bottom of a mold box and pour the resin around it and then cut slivers into the cured silicone to release the masters

Ah, my mistake. I didn't make these myself, I bought them without first knowing they were recasts. Rather than try to return them, I decided I'd try my best to work with what I'd been given. Not sure what methods were used by whoever produced these, but to my untrained eye, the quality seems a step below the models I own that I know are GW official.

I think whoever recasted the backpacks did a rather silly job to be fair.. when I recast certain things I tend to do two parts using the same halving point that they originally have (along the mold lines) it looks as if the guy who casted the backpacks used a two part mold using the top and bottom of the backpack rather then the front and back like they normally come.

You have done a very good job fixing them up though.

The package they arrived in had a website on it: tortuga-gamestable.top. I didn't go to that site to order them, I got them through an account on Etsy that was under a completely different name, though they are both based in the Ukraine, as someone pointed out to me a couple of weeks ago. I'll probably steer clear of them in the future to avoid this kind of thing.
