C'Tan conversions from other GW models

heya guys, i have not used a C'Tan in years....

i want to get the Eidolon model from the idoneth deepkin faction from AoS (in case anyone doesn't know it)

now i can convert him into either the nightbringer or the deceiver ?...

which one will get more play overall or which is the most useful...

OR do i make a necron C'tan that would knida be able to be used as either (in friendly games)

cheers ,Mithril

p.s. here's the guy if you haven't seen him...

Turning that spear into a scythe gives you good night bringer potential.

I like the idea of a more unique C’Tan shard that will give you the ability to use it as any shard depending on what you want to play.

The deceiver is good if you want to utilize some movement shenanigans. The Nightbringer is a good beat stick. And the transcendent has some really good ability you roll good to select 2. (This is my way of saying I like all 3 lol)

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

I thought it over last night (Tyriks- yes he's much bigger than a C'tan)  i may convert it to be as suggested into a "New" C'tan shard ...and use it as whichever shard i choose on the day of battle...

It will be a centerpiece figure for the army so i don't mind if its oversized

i was thinking of having some scythe type conversion in the left hand and a Necron type staff/sceptre in the right...or some kind of hand gesturing or holding an orb?...not sure yet :unsure.:

What i do know i want, is the whole watery Cape part from the ground up will be a shade of metal (living metal :cool.:)  probably transitioning from bright silver up through boltgun to bronze right up to bright gold at the top... havent thought about how to do the arms of each i.e the scythe of the nightbringer and the sceptre/orb or arm? of the deceiver...

Thanks all for the interest and feedback,

cheers ,Mithril

++EDIT++ i just had this brainwave.... what if i used this(much cheaper) Model?... Not as super Dramatic as the Eidolon but would still with some minor conversion make a good Tri-shard... i would have to trim off as lot of soulstones though...or cast some mini scarabs to replace them...:wink.:

I think the only problem with the Yncarne is that a lot of the detail is very Aeldari-looking. You'd have to scrape or sand off a lot to make it look Necron. That said, if you did do it, it would look like a good Deceiver. Better than the current one which is pretty underwhelming.

Thanks for the feedback fellow Necrontyr :happy.:

i'm still up in the air about which to use...:huh.: ...the Eidolon with the waves would make awesome looking living metal... but as stated the Yncarne has that deceiver'ish look :cool.:  and yes much removing of Eldar (Aeldari sounds so soo dumb  ) parts must be done...

still in thought  ...the ETL starts soon so i better get deciding !!

If you're intending to play in tournaments, it is worth picking up the regular model too, for sizing concerns. A bigger base, taller model can help you and your opponent in different ways in different circumstances (charge distances, pile-in moves, cover, ...), so having the correct model on hand can help resolve any disputes.

Thanks for the advice Paulochromis , but my serious tourney days are behind me, it’s all gaming with mates nowadays ,I don’t deal well with cheese power players..I end up wanting to thump em and for some reason they don’t allow that at tournaments !!?! ;-)

It’s more rule of cool now.

It depends on the size of the first thing. It might be a good nightbringer, but if it’s smaller it would probably make a better cryptek.

As to the second, it’s certainly large enough but I’m not sure I’d use it as one. His entourage might make good lords though.

The big guy...i think he'd be fine separate from his base and entourage :happy.: ...on some necron styled crystal or a cracked earth/fire base...

i'm really considering the top one as the deceiver but with a skull and spine in his left hand drawing the spirit/life essence out of his latest victim :ohmy.:

a skull and some greenstuff... it wont be too difficult me thinks

With the new AoS i picked out a few potential C-Tan replacements from the Ossiarch Bonereapers

NightBringer ? -

A Transcendant Shard ? -

These would've been great choices for 3rd Edition's Necrons, in which the C'tan rule over armies of slaves. For 5th and later Editions, these models look too AWESOME to be shattered remnants of false gods under the Necrons' control. Edited by Bjorn Firewalker

Lets see shall we...

well i'm definitely going to get this guy when he come's out and make him up as the NightBringer...although,depending on his size...i may have to add a broken pillar or something under his foot to bring him up to C'Tan stature

I was thinking maybe a small pillar of scarabs.

Now we're talking   Thanks for the Uber idea Tyriks !!...

But... do you mean a living pillar of scarabs? or scarabs running all over a pillar?  :wink.:

Both are good ideas

i'm going to start making a skull and spine that will fit between his hand there...he hits pre-order some time in October so I've got plenty of time to work on it

that's the only part i'm 100% sure of doing for the conversion so i'll just start with that till i know his size etc...

i hope you do one as well Tyriks

cheers, Mithril

++EDIT++ does that look to be a 32mm base?... i watched the video on it and it seems that size :ermm:

I saw this photo and had to do a quick double take:

I knew it was shop'd but it would definitely make a solid Nightbringer counts-as. The Scarab pile is easiest for a height adjustment, anyone going to step up to the crazy plate and take a swing at sculpting a cloak too?
