Alternative to Citadel Spray

So, I started off using the black spray primer like most. While making a Tantalus as a surprise for a friend, I stumbled onto Incubi Darkness spray. It made that project so much easier that I thought I would duplicate the shortcut for my Wolves.

 

I use the pre Heresy color scheme, so Adeptus Mechanicus Gray. I got the spray, tried it out on a Rhino...and was bummed that it was lighter than the plastic on some of my models. I checked online and others had the same issue with that color.

 

I tried finding some spray paints at Lowe's or Walmart that would be similar, none looked right.

 

Can anyone recommend a third party spray that would look like Adeptus Mechanicus Gray from the paint pot?

Have you looked at Vallejo spray cans? A model train store near me started carrying them, have yet to try it but I've heard good things. Pretty sure these have been made with warhammer models in mind considering some of the colour names (Ultramarine Blue, wolf grey).

I have had issues with this being off. If you want a really good paint compare look up paintRack on Google play store, might be on apples too.

What about the Army painter spray cans?

+1 for army painter. I switch to them when GW discontinued the old Blood Angels red cans and I have been very happy. Uniform Grey looks about right.

Plastic soldier company has decent sprays. I used them a lot when I was doing WW2 historical stuff.

The mechanicus grey from the air line seems to be the correct shade for me, at least once I throw a wash on it
