My first thought was if you would replace the heavy onslaught cannon with another laser destroyer to make it double barrelled, you'd get a grav version of the apocalypse tank from red alert 2.

Agreed, it looks more like an actual battle tank rather than this weird transport/gun boat thing they've got going on at the moment.

Two onslaught gatling cannons would have been amazing too, maximum dakka!

You could always kit bash it with the Leman Russ plasma cannon. Or (slightly less sensible suggestion) you could swap in a warhound plasma blast gun. I agree a wider plasma variant like the Leman Russ would look awesome!

Oddly, I actually kind of like it. And I'm not really big on tanks to begin with. Given my choice of Chapter I greatly prefer aircraft.

My son doesn't know it yet, but he's getting one for his birthday to go in the Imperial Fists army we're building him. To go along with the recast Astreaus we acquired in a lot purchase of Primaris stuff.

At least we finally have 40k vehicles whose appearances imply vaguely plausible internal dimensions.  The Leman Russ Demolisher apparently has room for a 72-round autoloader and a gun breech in that tiny turret.

Wasn't a fan of the Repulsor when it came out, and I'm not a fan of these new variants. Had hoped they'd expand the Primaris tank range in different ways. Perhaps one day.

So the repulsor is supposed to be the Primaris main APC? Seriously? Their main transport tank is the same cost as a land raider. Seriously.

 

Like in an actual campaign with mechanics relating to logistics and moving around forces appropriately I may look at the repulsor more favourably but we NEVER have had anything such as that. Never a campaign set of rules that give us rules and methods of emulating logistical fights and moving forces around (imagine someone trying to get their conscript spam moved somewhere). There such units such as these that can do so much on one frame would be invaluable I would wager and specialists would be considered less powerful (due to a lack of tactical flex. After all, 4 lascannons is worth naught against them 30 odd ork boys!)

 

However in standard 40k...that isn't the case.

 

Won't lie though, that edited image of the doubled up Las-destroyer version got me a little...mhmm...thats the stuff if you get me.

I'm not a Primaris fan, especially their vehicles to date, but that version is visually appealing. Not the bits box, pin cushion, identity crisis weapon shenanigans of the official models.

Shame the rules won't allow it (atm).

Man, someone should come up with a campaign system that involves the logistics of the units in an army list, that would be rad.

Lemon: I don't think that the people complaining about the point costs are the same people complaining about it looking like a lopsided bitz box katamari.

Primaris definitely needed a mainline battle tank but man am I sad to see the transport added on. That's gonna boost the point coat and I'm not likely to need that unless the tank has some wicked cool rules for moving forward and getting in close (which would be the role a Repulsor is supposed to fill, but is way too expensive for).

I'm definitely more likely to get this as long as that lascannon thing can do work and doesn't end up like the Vanquisher Russ.

If it is a miss I'll pass on it just like the Repulsor. My BA can keep punching holes in tanks until GW coughs up some viable ranged antitank and transport options for Primaris, or fingers crossed, some Primaris who are made to punch things and have the tools to do it.

Firstly we never ever got any points values for transport capacity for anything in 8th edition so far and secondly just look at your Codex. A Predator with Twin-Las costs 130p. Razorback with Twin-Las costs 110p. The difference is +1W for the Predator and the transport capacity for the Razorback. So unless the +1W costs 20p plus however many points the transport capacity adds it really doesn't matter. Like at all.

Not really.

In the Imperial Armour index for Astra Militarum we have the "Heavy Laser Destroyer Array" which is basicaly 1d3 Lascannon shots but we also have the "Laser Destroyer" which is a single S12 AP-4 D1d6 shot that can increase its damage to 2d6 or 3d6 based on a 1d6 roll.

I am glad to see the Primaris range getting some anti-tank. It's not a big deal for me as both my BAs and SWs just run Primaris elements as support so my old Marine tend to provide the AT.

 

Personally I would rather have seen a cheaper transport to carry and protect those expensive infantry (a Grav Rhino basically) but I can see the niche this fills.

Now for that you pay quite a bit. Land Raider costs 200 base and a stromraven is 234 .T8 vs T7, 2+ save vs 3+, 16w vs 14W, so LR even has better stats.

So it actually is the FLY keyword, not the transport capacity that's the 'issue'. Do we have any good comparison of a non-FLY and FLY vehicle without transport capacity to make really sure whether it's just the FLY keyword and not the combination of both?

Oh and about what they say .... they also say that Bolter Discipline makes Marine vehicles too strong and think that the huge points increase of FW units in the first CA is justified ... I rather go by what they show us, not by what they tell us.
