3000 Point FRIENDLY tsons list

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone. I haven’t played since the third book so it’s been a long time And I need help with this 3000 point list. I have some new players that have got me excited to crack in to heresy again but I know the sons are regarded as filth so I tried to make what I think is a relaxed list but not one that is a complete push over. These guys are pretty competitive so there won’t be too much complaining about “the filth” but I don’t want to make every game an uphill battle if that makes sense.

again haven’t played in a long time so no idea if it’s a good/bad list and have only done a little looking around but as a beginner “everything is strong as Tsons” doesn’t really help with crafting a toned down or up list starting off.

Just a couple thoughts:

- Since you're bringing Sekhmet and a Cataphractii Praetor, you might as well go for GotCK to get those boosted warp charges. You'd just need a second squad of Sekhmet.

PotL is not a bad RoW (on the opposite, it's quite usable under certain circumstances), but potentially giving up 2 VP is always a bit iffy.

- Your Sehkmet need Combi Weapons and two Chain Fists.

- On the matter of Sekhmet:  no one likes two wound Terminators with a 3+ invulnerable ...

- Your Legion Terminators need Combi Weapons and two Chain Fists. A pattern is shaping up here.

- I'd add Melta Bombs to your Vet Tac units to make them true all-rounders.

- Run the Javelins with Melta & Lascannons.

I don't think this is the friendliest thousand sons list.

It has lots of biomancy, lots of psykers and a spartan loaded with 3++ Sekhmet.

If you want friendly, don't use Sekhmet, use regular terminators. They're still literally better than everyone else's generic terminators and can be level 1.

Also, don't take GoTCK if you're going to be trying to make friends!

Tbat said, if you're going to use Sekhmet, give them axes, you aren't going to be going down quickly so the I hit isn't that problematic

Any T-sons list is friendly now after 2 FAQs in a row bringing them back to "not as over powered".

Hmmm...not sure if I agree with this.  Sekhmet were arguably made better by adding Implacable Advance, and the biggest nerfs were to Magnus, who is still without a doubt the deadliest of the Primarchs.

Most players don't have a good answer to psychic shenanigans - playing Thousand Sons means you have access to a whole other phase of the game that most other players don't even touch.  So keeping that in mind is crucial to keeping a list friendly.

OP - As others have said, any Cataphractii unit with Pavoni is going to have a 3++, something pretty rare and hard to deal with.  If you really want Sekhmet, keep this in mind, and maybe give them a different discipline.  Your opponent will thank you for it!

I'd actually start with a base of tactical marines - most players will recognize that they aren't as over the top as vet spam (even if Veterans aren't as good as they used to be).  Your heavy support choices are totally fine, and the inclusion of the Dreadnought w/ force weapon is a good, fluffy choice that isn't totally beat-face.
