What is your favorite Mechanicus weapon?

Recommended Posts

So, like the title says, what's your favorite weapon for the faction and why?

The weapon that I find the most interesting is probably the Torsion Cannon. I don't remember seeing anything like it in a film or a game. The Cult Mechanicus book describes how it traps the target in three rotating force fields that tear the target apart. It's not the most effective weapon on the tabletop but as an idea I think it's pretty cool.

So, what weapon is the most interesting in your opinion?

Id agree with the torsion cannon for fluff. Just a shame its not as good on the tabletop.

On the tabletop probably the Terrax's drill. Strong, killy and the additional mortal wounds are all thematic.

Volkite is pretty tame in 40k rules wise but sounds awesome for the lore aspect. Phosphor weapons are also brutal I can picture bouts of phosphor spilling off the rounds and burning everything. Admech weapons seem so dangerous and archaic.

My favourite weapon in the Mechanicus arsenal is the HUMAN MIND.

j/k, I have a real answer, and it is the Irradiation Engine in 30k.  Here's why.

30k is mainly marine vs. marine action.  People generally think of Marines with different marks of power armour, especially Legion-specific specialists, often in huge infantry groups as if reproducing the covers of Horus Heresy novels.  The Irradiation Engine targets specifically that, melting past normal 3+ armour, wounding on a 2+ and it's a torrent weapon so the template can be maneuvered all sorts of silly ways.  There is a terrible beauty bore by the faces of opponents who bought those Legion-unique Marine units or the FW shoulderpads or what have you and have them literally wiped out with a swipe of your hand.  Not good against Terminators or Primarchs or Vehicles, though.

I am sorry to drink their tears, but if I was not meant to, then why did the Omnissiah make them so delicious?

It's not about being powerful to the point of OP, it's about how the Omnissiah teaches us, it's "the right tool for the job".  The Irradiation Engine in the context of 30k is about as specific an example as you can get.  The Machine God's lessons are so beautiful.

From the lore perspective - Radium weaponry.

Nothing says "We don't care for our suffering enemies, the landscape or our own troops as long as it is effective" better than just throwing out toxic, highly irradiated ammo like candy. Up to the point where your own troops glow in the dark, but that makes issuing lamps redundant.

I think the Mechanicum from 30k wins pretty handily. Just listen to names like "IRRADIATION ENGINE" and "PULSAR FUSIL" and see what your imagination conjures up. Cawl's Solar Atomiser and the Transuranic Arquebus are good follow ups though.

I have a special love for flechette blasters my Plucky uzi weidling " not AI honest"  sicarians have killed more than their fair share  of warlords by sneaking in behind enemy lines  and won me many a linebreaker while their at it .

However in terms of fluff its the Phospher serpanta  relic the Phosphenix by a country mile ,  The last Phosphex weapon in existence and used to execute the tech priest who destroyed the STC responsible for it .

For me my favorite weapons are the galvanic rifle and rad carbine.

They look rather similar to the real life Lee–Enfield and M1 carbine, and I choose to believe that they are actually augmented versions of these historical real-life weapons; that some long forgotten tech-priests found the schematics of these ancient Terran weapons and decided that, with some esoteric ammo and augmentation, they would once again make formidable weapons of war.

The Dunecrawlers icarus array.

Magos: "We require a weapon to efficiently dispose of aerial threats."

Tech priest: "Which threats exactly?"

Magos: "All of them."

Kinda the same as the irradiation weaponry - irradiate the target with every possible wavelength, and one of them will surely kill the target.

Magos: "We require a radiation weapon to kill the enemy with cancer."

Tech priest: "Which cancer exactly?"

Magos: "All of them."

It's interesting how many different answers people have come up with. The Adeptus Mechanicus/Mechanicus armies really seem to attract people because of cool weapons above all. I actually find it tricky to pick a favorite. I'm also quite partial to the fact that the Skitarii have access to cavalry that kills people with massive over-sized cattle prods. Not as sophisticated as some weapons but the mental image is pretty amusing.

Cawl's Solar Atomiser. Got to love beam weapons. As an Honorable mention a certain blackhole firing cannon on an Ark Mechanicus.

Every time I kill something with it I just had e to shout "TARGET HAS BEEN SOLAR ATOMISED"

The electropriest weapons are pretty cool. Sapping energy and using bio electric energy teslacoils to zap their foes.

Eradication Ray... Because it's straight out of Mars attack, retro martians with ray guns.

Heavy grav cannon because the codex description of a Tyranid carnifex imploding and collapsing in on itself was just awesome.

Rad carbines as people have already said, deadly cancer guns that make sure there are no winners.

I can't help but be excited about what this "Energy Howitzer" for the new Skitarii hovertank turns out to be. It could become a favorite new weapon.

I swear if they made an FPS game based on the Mechanicus the weapons selection would be amazing. Doom with Rad Carbines and Eradication Rays would be top notch.
