BSB Speculation

The Triumph model is super cool, though I’d probably cannibalize it for individual models. I’m a little annoyed that out “non-Order specific” LoW is so tightly tied thematically to the OML. If they were to parade a skeleton around and say “this is representative of all Orders Militant” then why would you pick Katherine rather than Dominica? I guess it’s because her order changed their name to the “Order of Our Martyred Lady” but it’s not like all the other Founding Saints weren’t Martyrs too. Edited by Servant of Dante

Isn't it because they recently recovered her body & shield? All the others are either long-entombed or literally missing as in the case of Argent Shroud's patron. So they're parading around the recent find to restore the faith of those who see it.

In fact, the rules are generic enough you could definitely paint it up as Dominica, and say that the success of the first processional was so great they started parading around the other bones too.

minor nit pick.....

Triumph is a HQ not a LoW....which for us makes it easier to take.....

(side note - I've noticed factions either get a LoW or a fortification....)

Have an opportunity to get a second box without the dex for decent savings...

Not sure I'm going to do it, because there's so much other stuff I want. I need CA, BSF annual, KT annual. But I'm also looking at starting both Eldar and DE. Many have complained about the models in the Blood of the Phoenix box, but for people who a) have NO DE or CWE models and want to play both factions and :cool.: also want to play these factions in Kill Team, the box is quite a deal.

The new DE battle box + the start collecting DE box are also pretty fly.

And I also like the new start collecting Chaos Space Marines; people complain about that one too, but I really want the Master of Possession and the two greater possessed. The box isn't an army on its own by any stretch of the imagination, but I have a decent Daemons of Slaanesh army that it could soup with, plus a huge set of cultists and a smattering of classic metal Noise Marines.

So I'm really debating the second box- I certainly can't afford all of this stuff. I don't really like fielding MSU, especially since our morale mitigation + miracle dice keep big squads from breaking, creating the potential to wreck someone's day by camping on objectives. A second box gives me a healthy force of flagellants, seraphim and repentia, rather than MSU. For sisters, I can use Sister Superior Amalia Novena as my 3rd superior- meaning 1 unit of 10 BSS and two of 5; two canonesses make it a battalion.

The repentia and arcos will be led into battle by Taddeus and Pious; Gotfret will lead my crusaders; Knosso will lead the death cult (though only in games where I can house rule, since her faction traits break Battleforged in a Ministorum force). I'd use the two new Penitent engines as escorts for Karamazov, and throw in my 3 classic Penitent engines. It's a dense Spearhead, or Vanguard but there's no way to get it to battalion status without adding non-Penitent SOB, so Spearhead or Vanguard it will be.

All of my other metal can be fielded as a brigade, which would give me 3 meaty detachments prior to the full release.

So tempting...

Still unlikely though- the books are just too important to my campaign, and they benefit ALL of my armies, rather than just one.

I should be posting my working army list and rebooting the campaign thread this weekend. Looking to assemble the entire sisters box, plus Celestine and the Geminae, plus Greyfax and Karamazov. From there, it's expanding and finishing terrain. Painting is next week...

Ah, that would make it make more sense. Id heard about the shield but didn’t even know her body was missing in the first place, I thought it was only Silvana. Must be new fluff :D I wouldn't paint it as Dominica because I don’t like to re-fluff unit’s. Just like I don’t use named characters because it doesn’t make sense for them to be at all these minor battles with my army, and I’m not going to use a named character’s rules for any person other than that named character.

Minor fluff nit pick.

The corps in the pictures for The Triumph is supposed to be St Katherine and is wearing armor, but isn't Celestine supposed to be wearing the Armor of St Katherine?

^that too! That’s a really good point. You could hand wave it and say she had multiple sets, but it seems weird that her super fancy set would be lost in a crypt below some old chapel when she was clearly buried in a set of armour. It seems they didn’t even keep the fancy set for use, it was on display (or in a crypt). Unless for some reason she died wearing a regular set of armour and not her fancy set and her body was lost somewhere until it was found recently . . . which is again strange.

Celestine also shows up as the Emperor wills, I don't think ahe rides around in transports putting her armor in a storage locker.

My guess is the armor is St Catherine's actual armor (or a venerated facsimile, no idea how many of these make their rounds of the Imperium) and Celestine's armor is as permanent as she is.

I personally like that the terrain piece is just that. With how easily we can field a brigade you can easily add the Battle Sanctum. It might be a faction specific fortification that actually sees the table top.

  • 2 weeks later...

Played a small free for all game. While I was mostly left alone, I got a storm of retribution off, and hit a swarm Lord with 29 damage since he failed all his invulns, and a 11 inch charge for my wrecking ball Canoness thanks to miracle dice.

My opponents have already said they hate miracle dice.

I can see how some could find miracle dice frustrating to go up against. An important kill denied to an MD save. A much needed elite unit taken down to an MD damage.

I can also see that these people are heretics :D

And they must be purged! Cleansed in the glory of the Emperor! In and of itself lies the Miracle (dice).
