Much better than I expected, the videos posted , especially GW's, really don't do them justice. For the most part right out of the pot works really well, working with flatter areas it's still better to use a palette to avoid overloading your brush, between that and slight tweak to brush strokes you can really minimize or eliminate brushstroke marks or pooling. I can honestly see myself completing full units using contrast almost as fast as individual models with the standard method.

That’s good to hear. I’m intrigued by the apothecary white. So might pick one up when I get the chance. Was a bit taken aback by the prize so probably just gonna get a couple initially and see how they are.

I also just got a range of scale75 paints. So can’t mentally justify buying more paints :p

It was one of the paints I went out of the way to test. I was very impressed with it, for the most part for nids you can slap these on out of the pot and get great result. For power armour armies, or carapaces on our monstrous creatures though, using it straight out if the pot and moving it around like a wash won't give the best results. The advice I was given for those is use a palette to properly load the brush, then apply it like wood stain. This gave excellent results which can then be improved upon with traditional techniques as needed.

You can really beat, not only the Orks, but any of the Xenos! The contrast colours would to wonders for the horde armies (not that Orks are not also benefitted - but c'mon!) :biggrin.:

Had a fairly productive Sunday, cracked on with a lot:

My Magus and Locus bodyguards. Aside from a few touch-ups, they're pretty much done.

Nexos and his little holo-table.

2nd Sanctus and Kellermorph (no hat included)

That'll leave me with these guys to fit in amongst backshift next week:

.....and then crack on with the two squads into a long weekend off. Things are going well for now \\o// (4 arms lol)

OSS is doing a brilliant job!

Also welcome on board Sabadin, your vow is registered. Just a quick note (and feel free to correct me you bug-people if I got this wrong) but I think the Genestealers come in units of 5-10. If that is the case Sabadin's vow may need some re-arrangement - but I don't believe it will affect the points' total.

Well, currently stuck in work on standby, but there's not many jobs you can build purestrains while getting paid, so......silver linings and all that.

Cracked on into the late night, and Vow 1 50% complete, now with better pictures:

They look great OOS - you really have found your pace! A very stinking colour combo, and very well executed! :tu:

Now let's hope this will inspire more Tyranids/Cults people to join your cause, things are looking up!

Well, hopefully we'll see some more WiP (hint, hint guys) as these first vows progress, and it's certainly not my first rodeo. Experience has taught me to not burn out too early, and I've a very loose idea of a schedule. HQ, heavy support, and then whatever's left in terms of mobs for the final three vows over six weeks at a minimum. Not having the pressure of vowing for the big two certainly helps.

Hammering out the final blocking on the hybrid squads tonight, and a weekend off to highlight. Won't make the Friday cutoff, but Vow 2 early next week I reckon (if RL plays nicely).

Yeah, I'll settle for Monday.

Absolute brainfart yesterday trying to find a good flesh tone for the Hybrids. Took me hours to work out that purple and fleshtone don't mix nicely, and I should've been mixing purple and grey all along.

Ugh.

Rogue, looking forward to the Russ.
