Anyone else representing wolves at LVO this year?

For about the last 10 years I’ve been trying to take my wolves to the LVO. This year it looks like I’m going. I play mono-wolves, and have absolutely 0 games played since 8th edition, so I know I also need to hit the dojo before January, but I’m totally stoked.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else from the Aett will be there this year or has been in years past. And if so, if you have any general advice for a mono-wolf player hoping to get back into tournaments in 8th edition, or even specific advice for the LVO specifically.

You know it brother, I have to be there to get my hobby best in faction trophy ;)

My best advise is to set personal goals. Unless something happens with our codex we’re not going to take the place by storm in battle points. There’s a few interesting builds out there for us that do pretty well but it’s rough for mono (for us).

Personally Im happy if I can beat the average (for us currently it’s ~30%) but I shoot for winning more than losing. I’m pretty competitive but i channel that into the hobby part so that’s my main game at least until we get some quality of life improvements.

Pumped to share some mjöd with you!

It’s been a good number of years since I was able to play regularly, but I’ve tried to keep up with the rules. Specifically our rules. And I’ve tried to keep up with a general idea of what the meta is like.

My (very basic) understanding of 8th edition is that the meta is dominated by hordes and titans, the two ends of the balance spectrum, and that there are other armies that manage to compete based on shenanigans (looking at you, space elves). I’m at least peripherally aware of the stratagem denial ability of the dark eldar, and the command point shenanigans of the loyal 32.

My question is how do I build a pure wolf list that can handle both hordes and titans. I feel that I can easily build an army that handles one or the other with relative ease, but not both. Is it better to prepare for one more than the other?.

Also, what shenanigans-counters, if any, have you fine barbarians found?

Just trying to theory-craft right now. Won’t be able to hit the dojo for another couple of months.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

So in my own theory crafting (not for LVO just for personal development) I have been finding msu razorback to be reasonably effective as a support base for smashy characters like a jp wolf lord and Bjorn. Sort of a moving castle. Rhino chassis are actually reasonably tough and having several (4 is looking good) is pretty reliable. Plus the double assault cannons are spectacular at horde clearing. I also back field with long fangs and intercessors and try to squeeze in a stormwolf or fang for more threats.

My current test list looks like this and fairs well when I put a knight opposite it. It gas only played versus me keep in mind so it may not be optimal but might get some creative juices flowing.
