People on Facebook are complaining about how it looks, but I don't mind it. I actually prefer to it the Porphyrion, I think. Looks wise at least. I'd probably like it more if the rules hadn't been so blatantly designed to have it just sit in the corner of the table and vaporise stuff from a distance.

Put me down for 'I'd rather have a Warhound', thanks.

(Also, I'm finding it a little bit entertaining that FW are clearly still using the Malinax transfers that they pulled from sale a year ago)

I said this in the other thread, but rules wise, the arms are way better. Hull mount only gives you a 22.5 degree swing left or right.

And I personally don't mind some heavy duty fire power knights, as most of them you want to run up and abuse stomps and a possible explode result, shooting along the way.

Yes and no. It's more expensive of the two, not counting the potential Lascannons, so there's that. The porphyrion has 4 twinlinked 10/2 blasts which is really good, especially for hull pointing and fishing for explode results. Ironside is a decent chaf clearer, but isn't barrage. This kind of leads to the big problem of everything is a hull mounted weapon, so while you can split fire as a super heavy, it's all going to be in a fairly narrow arc.

The asterius has less fire power, but against static armies, potentially better results. Two 7" 10/1 blasts with sunder will pretty much threaten anything that gets clipped outside of Spartans. The much larger arcs off it's arms allows for safer positioning visavis ion shield/linning up a target, while the mortar is barrage as well. The mortar is also better vs smaller units due to the multiple shots, as well as any variable toughnesses from fleshbane. The ignores cover is great, and rad phage really sucks for daemons.

Tldr: porphyrion more reliable output if target is in front of it, more expensive; asterius has more flexible targeting and a far better carapace weapon, but less direct damage, also cheaper.

The thing for me about this is that it’s kind of the Tau mentality of literally “my guns bigger than yours!”.

I get that not everything can be subtle....maybe I’m just tired of FW going “BIG!” instead of....here’s MK.2 power armour ;)
