Hail, brothers and sisters of the long war! As the followers of the corpse emperor draw closer, we shall muster and unify our forces. This year’s ETL VII is more important than ever, as we must avenge the disruption of out winning streak by the Blood Angels, who won after our ETL hat-trick (winning ETLs III, IV, and V). As we bask in the eternity of chaos, we shall laugh in the face of our opponent's futile efforts to win. We shall show these upstarts who the real Primes Inter Pares are:

All participants of the Chaos Space Marine forums of the ETL VII are hereby called upon to muster their forces and VOW THEIR SOUL TO CHAOS. Come forth, legionnaires and renegades, murderers and sycophants, worshipers and dilettantes! Answer our call to fire up your forges, collect your miniatures, wet your brushes, and start painting!

The Soul Vow is a satellite event of the ETL VII, aimed at doubling, tripling, quadrupling, or even quintupling the points of your first ETL VII vow. (There is no limit to the amount of times you want to multiply your points.) This event is meant purely as an extra motivator/inspirator for the ETL, so that the Chaos Space Marine Strategium will reign supreme - as is its right.

SOUL VOW FORMAT
Those who wish to participate must post their Soul Vow in this thread in the following format, and before they make their second vow in the strategium (excepting those who have already re-vowed before the start of this satellite event). The aim is to double, triple, quadruple, or even quintuple the amount of your first vow's points in the entire ETL.

Suppose your first vow in the ETL was 1000 points and you vow to double that amount in this event, then when the ETL closes you must have finished a total of 1000x2=2000 points in the entire ETL. So your first vow's points count to the total amount. As the vow limit in the ETL is always five, you have four vows to make this multiplication. In the example here, you can complete a second vow of 200 points, a third of 500, and a fourth of 300 points, after which you have fulfilled your Soul Vow of doubling your first vow's 1000 points.

Please post your Soul Vow in this event, using the following format:

“I, [name], vow my soul to chaos and swear to [double / triple / quadruple / quintuple/etc.) my first ETL VII vow, amounting to at least [X] times [points cost of first vow] points total completed on or before September 1st, 2019. Should I fail the forces of chaos and not complete my sworn points, I shall bear the SOUL LOST banner until the year-end.”

COMPLETIONS

As this is an ETL VII satellite event, the ETL is leading in terms of completions. Only those completions counted in the OP of the Chaos Space Marines Strategium will be counted here. So please make sure that your completions are recorded there on time. If yours haven't been recorded, please contact Captain Semper, the ETL VII event organizer.

**Just as a quick reminder to all to keep an eye on the amount of image space used in your signature. The limit it 999pixels x 100pixels. Just so you can gauge it better, the sizes used on the graphics here are:

FAQ:

Q: If I make a soul vow, do I have to fulfill the doubling/tripling/etc. in one single vow or can I use as many as I want?

A: You can use as many vows (up to four) as you want to fulfill your soul vow. Suppose your first vow was 1500 points, and your Soul Vow is to double that amount in the ETL, you can use up to four vows to fulfill your Soul Vow - for example Vow 2: 600 points, Vow 3: 200 points, Vow 4: 400 points, and Vow 5: 300 points. How you fulfil your Soul Vow is up to you - but remember: completion of your latest ETL vow is most important.

Q: Can you explain what you mean by 'multiplying your ETL VII vow' by using the standard example of doubling?
A: If you double your original ETL VII vow, your total ETL VII points should reach at least twice your original vow's points. So suppose your original vow is worth 1500 points, the total amount of your completed ETL VII points should be at least 3000.

Aeternas 836 x 3 = 1508 total ETL points
Chaz Sexington 341 x 3 = 1023 total ETL points

Eldrick Shadowblade 539 x 2 = 1078 total ETL points

Freakshow668 565 x 4 = 2260 total ETL points

Lhorke the First 278 x 2 = 356 total ETL points

Sgt. Blank 172 x 2 = 344 total ETL points

please be aware that I am not, in fact, telling anyone what or what not to paint, not am I disrespecting the ETL or the work of Captain Semper with this thread or event. This event is created out of my enthusiasm for the hobby and the ETL. I have helped organize this event twice before and ran it twice before as well, and have about two-thirds of the CSM participants join in every time, to the enjoyment of everyone involved. I consider the ETL a kind-spirited, well-mannered, and respectful competition - but a competition nonetheless. A bit of tongue-in-cheeck banter, in-character but respectful heckling, and constructive advice on how to be successful and most effective should therefore be allowed, considered within the spirit of the ETL, and indeed has been part of the ETL and the CSM forum in particular for years. If any Moderati or higher member of the admin team of the B&C disagrees with my interpretation of the ETL, I would respectfully ask of you to not delete this thread (or the comments in the CSM forum associated with it) without first PMing me about it. We can have a civil conversation about it - I am absolutely not above admitting my wrongs, editting my comments or remarks. It is a painting event, rather than a tournament.  Its a satellite to the ETL - http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356302-chaos-space-marines-outpost/ - which is a Bolter and Chainsword wide event.  Basically, this event is to encourage chaos participants to revow.  No gaming is involved, though certainly you are encouraged to play game with the models you paint. :)

Well, Daemons have no soul, so they're out. And renegades can be vowed as cultists from the CSM codex. The Black Crusade was originally intended to assist in the victory of the Chaos Forum. Diluting our forces doesn't help that. Last year, we would have won had some frater -who had made vows in the Daemon Strategium with units that all feature in the CSM codex- had made those same vows in the CSM Strategium. So to encourage people to vow for the CSM forum, this is CSM only for now. :)

Good to see this back again and eager to make up for last year's result. I've got enough infantry primed to double my pledged points but I'm aiming to pledge a Knight of I can get the conversion finished and the humidity allows for priming.

So here we go. I thought that "only" doubling my first vow would be too easy, and quadrupling it - going for over 2000 points! - would be too extreme. The triple should be a challenge, but one that I can handle.
