homemade tomb sentinel

I've seen this conversion done a lot but yours is extra long and creepy looking. Really nailed that centipede vibe those back end claws remind me of earwigs too (kinda shuddered thinking of those critters).

If you plan on painting it over the next couple months you could always vow it in the ETL and help out our fight for painting dominance among the Xenos boards.

Geez guys if I could take pictures that didn't  SUCK ASS i'd be happy to do some pics of the painting process. The damnedest thing is mine followed the general guideline for turning 3 wraiths into a Tomb sentinel/stalker and yet turned out a mile longer than the one in the example.  I still have no idea why. :huh.:

One deviation I made from the video guid was to separate the forward armor plates (lost of scoring and it doesn't come out perfect)  and only  use ONE of the forward plate sections.

Itcs got some very rough stpot on the underbelly but since I plan of gluing it to a base I will leave those.

You could make one with fewer wraiths by having it coming up from the ground. Maybe two wraiths with the lower part still underground?

I added the big pincers to the rear to discourage enemies from wanting to play grabass with it. (Those slaanesh cultists will grab anything by the ass...)

I put a beamer as a tail to suggest it used a dimensional effect to come up from underground. A second head with a single face or a wraith tail would have been fine too.

My intended paintjob for this will be traditional,  looking a lot like the paintjobs on the wraiths in this video. https://youtu.be/XkXe_6rGiuY

Very cool looking. Might need to copy this...

I'll do what I can to help. My biggest xxxx up here was not pinning and not having the right shape at first and having to hack it apartand remake it,   as is obvious on the underside. Know how high you want it to rear up before you  glue it together. Also make sure to have a few curves along the body to give it a moving look.  At most have it rear up to about marine head height.

Very Cool :cool.:  And so very tempted to copy and create, how many points is this critter worth on the table?... and is it worth making one too :tongue.:

Cheers, Mithril

p.s. you should vow it for the ETL !!

A tomb  sentinel costs 145 pts.  It has deepstrike and is armed mainly with an exile cannon tbat is heavy d6, s10, ap4 and does 3 dam and has a 12" range. It lacks quantum armor and is a dubious choice, but can act as a "land mine" to popup in front of a major target and fire some heavy shots at it maybe inflicting serious damage on it.  Likewise it can take an objective. It lacks survivability and needs QA but can be useful and adds some heavy if short ranged and unpredictable firepower to a necron army.

Could also finish ooff a damaged unit or put some hurt on a troublesome devastator squad.

They're 150 points a pop if you take gloom prisms on them. I'll be including three of these in my army. A decent combo you can do with them is to run them as sautekh with a triarch stalker in the same detachment. Wound whatever with the stalker, pop them up next to what needs to die, then 2 CP for Methodical Destruction. That's an average of 9 S9 Ap4 hits on 2+ with reroll 1s :D
