BBJ Does Legio Mortis

Love the colours on your titans BBJ. I have one question though:

How do you do the black? Because I love the colour on it, and want to do something like that on the Titans I'm going to be getting next month

Thanks!

The black is super simple, it's Vallejo model air black airbrushed on with an airbrush highlight of AK interactive basalt grey and some very selective edge highlights of basalt grey. The edges of the panels get a wash of citadel nuln oil gloss at the very end of the process to cover up mistakes from painting the trim.

Hmm... I see. Thanks! I'm thinking I might be able to replicate that with Abaddon Black and Corvus Black?

Might need to invest in an airbrush (or air versions of those paints )

I don't think corvus black is light enough, basalt grey is closer to mechanicus standard grey.  You could definitely get the same kind of effect without an airbrush, but it'd take hours of blending on every panel.

Any update brother? Look forward for this staggering Warlord and his amazing pose! :)

Very close to finishing both the Reaver and the Warlord, bases are 99% done, tilt shields for Warlord and ankle weathering for both titans to do. Just need a good few hours where I can get the airbrush out to matt varnish things.

Good to meet you this weekend. Didn’t hear how your Mortis got on. Presumably they were left as irradiated wreckage by the victorious loyalists?

Was good to meet you too. Regarding my legio's performance you're entirely correct! I lost 4, drew 1

The missions definitely favoured the loyalists this weekend, perhaps apart from mission 4. I think the worst one was where we had to kill three enemy engines and the traitors didn’t even know which ones we were hunting – which was really tough for people fielding lots of warhounds.

And this is fine.

Yeah, those are pretty excellent looking. They’re S7 and auto hit in game so they’d hurt something already wounded but lancers hit pretty hard that close as well.

Your highway signs make me laugh, that’s a nice touch.
