Big model list

Hello

I am thinking about returning to 40K.

I am not fully up to date on the keyword system but my plan is to build an army consisting of only big models.

If I use the keyword chaos have I understood it correctly that I can use for example tanks from Renegade and Heretics, a knight from Dark Mechanicum and a Daemon Prince ?

To begin with I just need to be sure I get the keyword system right.

Also I would like to have some help and advice on whether or not it is possible to build a competitive big model list by using the keyword chaos.

I dont want to paint troops, I know I will never finish the army if I have to paint troops.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Kind regards

Kim

A latter errata banned keyword chaos detachments from matched play but you can still have a mixed 'chaos' army and can mix chaos codexes as long as you keep each detachment to one god.

Knights are Lord of War Choices so need to go in either a Super Heavy Auxilery of 1 knight or in a Super heavy detachment with at least 3.

Greater daemons can go in supreme command detachments if you have at least 3.

You can take a ton of renegade tanks in a spearhead detachment of 3 heavy support and 1 hq but daemon engines are better so you probably shouldn't. You can have a pure daemon engine detachment using the lord discordant as a HQ.

Most competitive way to get around taking troops would be to take nurgling bases, you can have a battalion of 2 greater daemons and 9 nurgling bases. Nurglings look okay with 1 coat of a contrast paint and the eyes and teeth picked out on just the front row.

Competitive daemon armies are entirely infantry based but if you're going to take monsters and daemon engines then going all big things is actually the right idea.
