What was said to Valrak/by Valrak was about his "obsession may be fulfilled/satisfied" - I wouldn't read more into it than a maybe at this point. You will only end up disappointed.

It's nice to have some good old loose salty wishlisting though aye? Good for the soul

Now, we currently know that BA and Wolves are going to be involved in the earlier books and that every other first Founding chapter has or will have a supplement imminently. The only first Founding chapter left is DA with no announcements or rumours of being included in psychic awakening or getting a supplement, yet. Also supporting a later release is the fact we have just gotten a white dwarf index astartes article, possibly meant to tide us over.

Ive seen more theories about Fulgrim than the Lion, but it would be cool.

I've seen those theories too, but I really doubt that Fulgrim will be next, just due to the fact that we already have 2 traitor primarchs and only one loyal one. I feel like GW is going to probably want to balance out the sides before they put out another traitor. Plus, the last primarch was a traitor so it would make sense to do a loyal one next

Yes all Astartes armies with indipendent codexes Will bè updated on PA books

If DA Will bè in PA5 they Will come in february

The suggestion of a potential 9th Edition release makes me suspect there will be no updates DA codex before then. We’ll get something in book 5 of psychic awakening, but what exactly - who knows?

 

Hope we don't suffer from "early cocex in a new edtion syndrome" again -.-.

I'm more afraid of "Oh, crap, we've made Iron Hands overpowered! Make the rest marines weaker ASAP!" syndrome. Imperial Fists supplement already shows those signs.

If there's a ninth edition I expect it will be more like the Age of Sigmar second edition transition and the current Codex: Space Marines is the first early codex. Base any assumptions of early codex syndrome on that. Expect a power spike for mono-faction Dark Angels. What do you wish it would look like?

My wishes? Point adjustments, unique litanies for chaplains, generally stronger "chapter tactics" that re-rolling 1s for shooting, 'cause everybody can do this with just a captain. And, of course, more focus on our unique units, especially terminators, rather than on new primaris, because they, you know, our unique units.

The Imperial Fists supplement was propably written the same time as the Iron Hands one and definitely already printed as the whining about IH set in.

 

But as far as I heard the next sh**storm is already approaching wit Salamanders.

The list is not short, but it is not complex either, in what changes are desirable for an update:

 

Doctrines

Litanies

An "Inner Circle" special rule and/or a Deathwing keyword that actually does something useful

Deathwing Lieutenants

A specialist detachment for the Deathwing that improves our mobility with terminator models, so that we can actually get charges in once every year instead of once every decade

Better stratagems, that actually play into the synergy between wings

I was taking a look at the Litanies and I think they're one of my favorite parts of the new codex. Each is very flavorful and has a good effect. It was hard to imagine anything else, but here's what I came up with:

 

Litany of Perseverance

The Chaplain lists the glorious dead lost in the righteous pursuit of duty as a goal for the current generation of Dark Angels to strive towards.

 

If this litany is inspiring, then when a model in a friendly <UNFORGIVEN> unit within 6" of this model would lose a wound, roll one D6; on a 6+ that wound is not lost. This is not cumulative with any similar rules.

 

Catechism of Fealty

The Chaplain calls upon his brothers to remember their oaths to the Emperor, the Chapter, and each other.

 

If this litany is inspiring, select one friendly <UNFORGIVEN> unit within 6" of this model. Add 3" to the range the model's aura abilities (e.g. Rites of Battle). This does not increase the range of psychic powers that are aura abilities.

 

Exhortation of Obstinance

The Chaplain exhorts his brothers to continue heaping violence upon the foe until nothing of their presence is left.

 

If this litany is inspiring, select one friendly <UNFORGIVEN> unit within 6" of this model. When resolving an attack made by a model in that unit, an unmodified hit roll of 5+ scores 1 additional hit.

 

Mantra of Ruthlessness

The Chaplain focuses on the uncompromising spirit bestowed by the Lion on all his true sons.

 

If this litany is inspiring, add 2 to this model's Attacks characteristic and charge rolls and subtract 1 from the AP characteristic of melee weapons this model is equipped with. In addition, when this model makes a pile-in or consolidate move, it can move up to an additional 3". This is not cumulative with any other ability that adds to a unit's charge roll or increases the distance it can pile in or consolidate.

 

Recitation of Adherence

The Chaplain recites the creeds of what is to be Dark Angel; lessons passed down since the time of the First Legion.

 

If this litany is inspiring, select one friendly <UNFORGIVEN> unit within 6" of this model. Double/Improve the effects of [Chapter Tactics] and [Combat Doctrine]. This is not cumulative with any other ability that improves [Chapter Tactics] or [Combat Doctrines]

 

Canticle of Duty

The Chaplain tells the tale of the Emperor's sacrifice to slay the Arch-Heretic and demands that his brothers can do no less.

 

If this litany is inspiring, then when a model in a friendly <UNFORGIVEN> unit within 6" of this model is destroyed, roll one D6 before removing that model from play. On a 4+ that model can either shoot with one of its ranged weapons as if it were your Shooting phase, or make one attack with one of its melee weapons as if it were the Fight phase. If the target has the HERETIC ASTARTES keyword then the model can re-roll the to hit and to wound rolls. This is not cumulative with any similar rules.

I suppose it's not exactly a codex wishlist, but it's adjacent - I want a Primaris version of our Veterans box, with robed bodies and all the wonderful bitz the current robed vets get. Having all one's squads led by a robed Vet really adds that DA flavor to the army on the table. Right now, I'm looking at giving the current robed Vets weapons appropriate to whatever Primaris squad I want to have them leading (got a lot of magnetized Vets), but I'd prefer to have a proper set of robed Primaris Marines to put to that use.

Personally, I have a feeling nothing major is going to happen with DA for some time. Reason for that is DA get their limelight (finally) in the impending Book 9 of FW 30k, anticipated to come out in 2020.

 

Other hints have been dropped that the BL authors, GE studio, and FW are finally starting to share notes ahead of time so that things can feel a bit more coherent from an IP perspective. As such, I think the good thing is that GW studio (8th Ed) is not going to do anything until book 9 is out, so all had a time to absorb what the I Legion was like and how the Lion was on the tabletop before bringing anything into 8th. Every Primarch released for 7th/8th (Magnus, Guilliman, Mortarion) all had models and rules in HH before coming over to 8th. This is important b/c it slows the studio to show how they have grown and evolved or twisted after 10,000 years. So the bad news is I think DA will be pushed back as a result of that overall positive change.

 

For what it’s worth, I think a bit of a wait would be a good thing since any return of the Lion should be a pretty darn big deal, not only because it’s a :cuss -ing Primarch returning, but also due to his history with Guilliman in that whole Imperium Secundus thing... to “do it right” in my opinion, it would need to bring the whole Fallen and Cypher thing under the bright lights and the ramnifications of all that for both the faction and the setting should be a pretty big deal.

 

Just my take as someone who played DA a bit during 7th and finds them one of the most intriguing factions in the game.

All the big DA stuff on the horizon makes me wonder if GW is going to make it all release at around the same time for HH, 40k, and the primarch book from BL. It would work well to cross promote their systems and likely get people interested in the other rulesets and products from Forge World

Only the Lion Book and the HH DA Legion will be out in the same time

maybe Plastic Awakening 5 will be out in february too with DA rules in it but no codex and maybe just a primaris SC model (probably a primaris version of one of our old SC like Azrael Ezekiel or Asmodai)

 

the only new Codex that will be out before 9th edition will be SoB so DA have to wait months to see a new codex for them in 40k

Aside from being brought in line with SM datasheets, stratagems and points I want to see the following:

* Show a subtle affinity for plasma by making the relic plasma weapons do mortal wounds on an overheat instead of slain. Including Corvex switching to heavy plasma Cannon

* Plasma storm battery becomes heavy 2d6, and also does a single mortal wounds for overheat.

* Jink treating rapid fire guns as assault guns so it's possible to shoot with ravenewing bikers while benefiting from jink. You'd lose fire power but still get to shoot, no bolter discipline because it's assault and -1 to hit. Possibly also remove the hit penalty on heavy weapons for moving (not advancing).

* Plasma talons become rapid fire 2.

* Stasis and rad grenades become profile options not strategem

* Redo points of black Knights so that there can be a price difference in the two gun options

* Interrogator chaplains use 2 litanies a turn

* All of the psychic powers get reduced by 1 warp charge. At least.

* Allow standard librarius powers

* Yet another points reduction for deathwing

* Deathwing assault reduced to 1-2 CP

 

I'm not sure what to do about the combat doctrines. I get the strong impression that we won't get the same as regular marines.

Perhaps, Greenwing get devastator, while ravenwing get tactical and deathwing get the assault bonus? No chopping and changing...

OR

Demonstrate our strategic prowess by letting us choose our doctrine each turn in any order.

 

Scrap the tactical objectives and never speak of them again.

I agree with almost all of that from Zustiur. One thing I would keep the same is the assault 2 plasma talons, they just work well with the way black knights play, not to mention speed of the raven stratagem.

Works fine already so any overlap with Grim Resolve and Inner Circle must go away.

 

Grim Resolve = Re-roll ones to hit when it shoots (including Overwatch) if model didn't move in its own previous movement phase, and units with this rule can never lose more than one model as a result of a failed morale test. and Bolter Discipline rule also apply to non-heavy Plasma weapons.

Because we are the plasma Legion.

 

Inner Circle = automatically pass morale checks Reroll failed Armour Save and may reroll fails to-hit against anything with the FALLEN HERETIC ASTARTES keyword

Deathwing get the best gear the Imperium has to offer.

 

 

/// STRATAGEMS ///

 

Fortress of Shields (1CP) = Used at the start of the fight phase. If a Deathwing unit contains at least 3 Storm Shields, all attacks suffer a -1 to wound modifier against that unit.

Vets with Storm Shield should benefit from it too.

 

Hunt the Fallen (1CP) = Used before the battle starts. Pick an enemy Character; it gains +1 Attack but all Dark Angel units re-roll all failed hits in Close Combat against them. He gain the HERETIC ASTARTES keyword. In addition, all Deathwing and Ravenwing units re-roll all failed charge rolls against that character.

 

Inner Circle (1CP/2CP) = Use this before the start of the game; target a non-Primaris Dark Angels Master, Dark Angels Dreadnought or Dark Angels Land Raider (2CP). They gain the Deathwing (important for interacting with characters and banners) and Inner Circle keywords.

 

Intractable (2CP 1CP/2CP): Used when a Dark Angels unit (1CP) or vehicle (2CP) has fallen back. They can still shoot this turn.

 

Speed of the Raven (1CP): Ravenwing unit may still shoot and charge this turn after advancing and don't suffer -1 to hit when firing Heavy Weapons after moving.

 

 

/// WARLORD TRAITS ///

 

Fury of the Lion = Any time your Warlord charges, was charged, or performed a heroic intervention this turn, friendly Dark Angels within 6" add 1 to their strength get +1 To Wound for that fight phase.

 

Courage of the First Legion = All friendly Dark Angels within 12" of the Warlord automatically pass Morale tests.

Works fine now with Grim Resolve and Inner Circle reworked.

Brilliant Strategist = Once per game, you can re-roll a single failed hit, wound, or saving throw roll, if your warlord is alive. In addition, if your army is battleforged, roll a d6 each time you use a stratagem. On a 5+ 4+, you gain a command point.

Huntsman = Your Warlord can fire Pistols, Assault, Rapid Fire, and Grenades (but not Heavy) at enemy characters even if they aren't the closest model. Ennemy models inside 6'' of your Warlord gain the HERETIC ASTARTES keyword. In addition, when he piles in or performs a Heroic Intervention, he can move towards the closest enemy Character instead of the closest enemy model.

Master of Maneuver = Re-roll the dice Add 1D6 to determine how far a Dark Angels unit advances and charge when they're within 6" of the Warlord.

Stubborn Tenacity = Feel No Pain 6+, 5+ if the model didn't moved if the model is a TERMINATOR or DREADNOUGHT.

 

 

/// RELICS ///

 

Lion's Roar = 24'' range for the Plasma shots.

 

Foe Smiter = Rapid Fire 3

 

Mace of Redemption = Fine with the new Stratagems/Traits

 

The Eye of the Unseen = Enemy units within 3" of the bearer subtract 1 from their Leadership value, and any enemy Characters within 3" of the bearer that are chosen to attack in the fight phase must fight after all other eligible units have fought, even if they charged in the Charge Phase. Enemy units within 6" of the bearer roll 2D6 when taking Moral tests and discard the lowest result.
