Taking the plunge and designing 2 1000pt (ish) lists

Hi,

I finally caved the other day (after watching some you tube battle reports) and have bought into Adeptus Titanicus. Although I have owned to rules set for a while.

As I'll have to provide both sides for the time being at least I'm trying to design 2 balanced 1000pt ish armies that can then hopefully be combined later if any of my friends buy their own big stompy robots (although I suspect one will only take the plunge if they bring out the Eldar :-\ )

Anyway
I current have a alternative reaper and have the battlegroup box on order (1x Warlord, 1x reaver and 2x Warhound). Plus the shop is just up the road from where I work so chances are come lunch I may have bought something else ;D

Right enough rambling
What do you think 2 these 2 lists for fighting against each other

List A - 975pts
Warlord 385
Carapace Laser Blasters 50
Plasma Annihilator 45
Bellicose Volcano Cannon 55

Warhound 180
Vulcan mega Bolter 10
Plasma Blastgun 30

Warhound 180
Turbo Laser Destructor 20
Inferno Gun 20

List B - 995pts
Acatus Knight banner
4x Acatus Knights 290
4x Twin Magna and Ironstrom 80

Reaver 250
Apocalypse Missile Launcher 10
Melta Cannon 35
Laser Blaster 25

Reaver 250
Turbo Laser Destructor 20
Gatling Blaster 15
Chain Fist 20

The other option for List B is to swap out the Acatus knights for Creastus Knights with lances and shields which would result in it being 955 pts
Or the other other option for list B is to drop th eknights and add an extra Reaver but that would probably bring it to 930ish

So I currently have (or have on order) 1 of each Reaver, 1 warlord and 2 warhounds - i'll magnetise guns where possible but I am debating building one Reaver so it will always have a CC weapon just for ease.
I'm also debating whether to buy warlord gun sprue with plasma annihilators or if i should just go all the way and buy a 2nd full warlord

I hope that all makes sense

Any thoughts

Cheers
Andy

I think my recommendation would be to run essentially mirror matches. Get a plasma warlord and give each side an Axiom maniple of a warlord, reaver and warhound. That'll let you try out various different weapon options with similar armies.

I'd steer clear of the Acastus for now. It looks like they might well be unbalanced, and lead to bad games. Each one has about the firepower of a reaver so if one side had four of them they'd almost certainly dominate at this points level. Questoris or Cerastus knights wouldn't be such an issue.

I was trying to avoid mirror matches as one of my friends main criticisms is "both sides are just exactly the same"

I was also just going to ignore the Maniple rules as well as legion traits (and maybe stratagems) to start with whilst we learn the basics

Also i'm not 100% sure i want an extra warlord

My first games were a Venator Maniple and some Knights taking on Axiom Maniples - wasn't too bad of a match up.

My list at 1250 points was roughly this:

Venator Maniple -

Reaver w/ Turbo Laser carapace (was naff I kept missing with it), Melta Cannon (lovely with the free shot), Volcano Cannon (hit like a truck but very hot I will use it on another Reaver next time)

Warhound w/ vulcan megabolter and plasma blastgun (very good - this guy got stuff done)

Warhound w/ inferno cannon and turbolaser (turbo was alright but my inferno cannon barely got to fire and didn't do much)

Outside the maniple I had a Reaver with gatling, laser blaster and apoc missiles - good fire support but I will swap weapons around next time. I also had a Knight banner who almost got into melee with a Warlord once before an enemy plasma warhound wasted them.

So to knock that down to around a thousand points you could drop the extra Reaver, this list didn't do too badly against all the Axioms and should do well with a good player :P

Those look like fun starter lists to me but you might go Cerastus instead of Acastus knights as both your Reavers look like they want to advance and the lancers are good for screening their big buddies.

Might be a slight change of plan as I've just bought another Reaver :biggrin.:

Because Reavers are awesome but for chuffs sake be careful building the legs :P

I've already built one and the legs Seemed to go okay, he might be leaning back slightly when its all done but i'll just tell people that's the recoil :tongue.:

I glued one foot to the base first and built one full leg, that attached the groin (not sure what else to call it) then when that was mostly dry added the 2nd leg

So now I have (or will have when they arrive) 3 Reavers, 2 Warhounds and a Warlord

I feel that's enough titans for now, so knights will be next on the shopping list - and the alternative weapons sprue for the warlord

i think i'll just use paper copies of the extra weapon cards and terminals I need for now, hopefully i'll be able to get a friend interested and we can then split a pack

The issue with reaver legs is that there are lots of pieces that look like they can fit on either side, but which actually can't. The feet, thighs and shin armour plates are all left or right handed but you see a lot of reavers with them stuck on backwards - the feet especially.

So long as you follow the instructions and use the numbered pieces as it shows, you'll be ok. Many people don't!
