+++BCK's Conversion Challenge: Necromunda Winner+++

Welcome, battle brothers and sisters, to my newest conversion challenge: Necromunda!

This time around it's all about Necromunda and anything that can fit under that umbrella: gangers, bounty hunters, dome runners, hive scum, hangers-on, psykers, muties, scavvies, ash wasters, beasts, robots, and even some regular civilians if you wish!

The rules:

1) The finished model should be unpainted so we can clearly see your converting or kitbashing though the odd painted piece stolen repurposed from another figure is fine.

2) Models that might have already been started are acceptable, but if it's something that's almost finished, you may enter it as an out-of-competition model that won't be eligible for judgement.

3) You must declare if the model is Ruled or Unruled, meaning if it's based on something from one of the rule books and will have a points value then it will be Ruled and if it's just a neat thing you wanted to do with some Necromunda flavor then it will be Unruled.

4) Ruled models must be WYSIWYG and all relevant gear must be modeled. As such, a listing of gear will need to accompany your figure at some point. Unruled models are exempt from WYSIWYG

5) You must declare participation at least 24 hours before completion of your conversion.

6) You can enter multiple times, but you must finish one entry before pledging the next. Only one entry will be considered for judgement and you will nominate which to put forth.

7) Build time is from July 17, 2019 until September 30, 2019.

Pledging your entry:

Please use the following format for your pledge:

I, (your name), pledge to convert (character type or name, Ruled or Unruled) for (House or other faction) in the Conversion Challenge on or before September 30, 2019.

Progress:

A photo of your model's condition before beginning (parts, base figure, figures you're going to chop up, etc) is required with your pledge (or as soon as you can). The figure you wish to enter for judgement will require pics of the front, back, and both sides. Progress pics along the way are optional but appreciated.

As is tradition with so many events, here's a participation banner.

Excellent, thank you for setting this up - and so quickly!

My Chaos Spawn built for Necromunda will be entered as an OOC entry. Some bits will be added, and some sculpting is to be done, but it is about 80% done.

Now what to enter? Hohum...

I suppose I should start with something I've been meaning to wrap up for a long time now.

I, BCK, pledge to convert the Hooded Ronin (Unruled) for the bounty hunters in the Conversion Challenge on or before September 30, 2019.

Just a few things to finish up, like his boots, some sort of power plant for his fist and pistol, and some more of his ragged cloak.

I'll need to get the Rulebook and Gangs of the Underhive to be able to do this, but I'm definitely joining in with something for my DIGGANOBZ (Read: Goliaths who look like Warboyz from Mad Max: Fury Road, but with some green paint :laugh.:)

Now.... Does anyone know if the FW Goliath arm upgrade pack fits on the The Mighty Zug model?

I, Dallo, pledge to convert a Rogue Doc (Ruled) for hire to the highest bidder in the Conversion Challenge on or before September 30, 2019.

This model was originally started as a Medic specialist for my Genestealer cult Kill Team, but never got completed, so I want to repurpose it for Necromunda.

I'm thinking all that gap filling will be good experience for increasing my abilities with green stuff.

I'm all for anything to do with Mad Max and as for Zug, I think it might not be that great a fit because I believe he's the size of an ogryn or maybe a little larger.

Oooh, if he's ogryn sized that's actually perfect, as I have some spare Ogryn/Bullgryn parts from a conversion I did. I'll need to order him though to figure out the course of action though.

Oh. That's actually perfect. I've held the Blood Bowl human team, so that comparison picture gives me a perfect idea. He's probably the size any eventual Goliath Characters from Forge World will be.

I was very excited to see your first wip, now confirmed.

That's one of my favorite characters pictures from the inquisitor book. Great job so far.

I'm still searching for inspiration. I only have the core Munda book, can anyone tell me if there are rules for bikes in a supplement?

Dallo

I used the same base model for a special event model a while back, I seem to remember it not being as big a job as I thought to fill in the gaps.

Thanks! He's definitely one of my favorite conversions. As for the bikes, there's no rules for it but there doesn't have to be for this contest! You can do anything you want for it and if there's no rules for your idea, it's simply an Unruled model. :D

And done.

Not happy with the boots at all and will try to fix them later or just re-sculpt them. Hell, maybe steal some boots from one of the extra Orlock bodies I bought. And speaking of extra Orlock bodies, here's the start of my next conversion.

I, BCK, pledge to convert the an Orlock Leader (Ruled) for the Slag Wolves in the Conversion Challenge on or before September 30, 2019.

Not sure what weapons I'm going to give him yet and will amend my vow once I decide.

I'm changing my vow. While digging around for some bits inspiration, I happened across something that brought a flood of nostalgia and now I'm going to do this:

I, BCK, pledge to convert the Wez the Unleased (Unruled) for the bounty hunters in the Conversion Challenge on or before September 30, 2019.

More great stuff BCK,

Dallo, I'm really liking the start you've made too!

Funny how the mind goes blank, still struggling to put something interesting together. However during a search for inspirational bitz I found the answer to my previous complaint about there not being enough stub guns in the Goliath kit.

And upon chopping up this little fella a small inspiration struck.

So to start me off my first boast.

I, TheGentleAxeman, pledge to convert an unnamed Juve (Ruled) for The Warboys of House Goliath in the Conversion Challenge on or before September 30, 2019.

I knew who that was even before I read the writing!!!

Love the use of the Blood Bowl mini, I need to get myself some for some Fallout esque conversions...

Quick question, what scale of model car works well with 40k scale? Kinda fancy having a pop at an Ash Wastes Max Rokitansky diorama including discarded Dinki-Di doggo food cans if I can manage fiddly little things like that.

Depends on the car, but I've got two 1:25 scale cars and they're pretty accurate to the size of the minis.

I've still got to dig out a chainsword for him. The idea behind this model is a needle pistol, chainsword, grapnel, infra sights, smoke grenades.

The flavor being that he uses the needle pistol and all his gear to subdue his targets before hacking them to pieces with his chainsword. If possible, he will live feed the execution to the houses, as a way to ignite fear.

Thanks! I forgot that I have an updated pic of Wez I put in my WIP thread, but not here. It's B&W because the neon blue color of the plastic is such a pain to photograph.

As for the scale, I think 1:25 is too large because of the number of 1:35 tanks and figures I have compared to 40 minis. I think 1:48 would be closer to the right scale.

Ill get a Ford Falcon in both scales then, the one more suitable will be for Munda and the other will be a straight up conversion into Max's motor then, win win regardless for me! :tu:

Remember, a lot of the older cars were VERY long, boxy and relatively large for their class.

Compare the Boy here to the 1:25 Christine (1958 Plymouth Fury) model:

LWmViVl.jpg

Now remember that the Necromunda models are also slightly bigger than the (quite old) Ork Boy. In 40k, vehicles are undersized compared to the other models, but 1:25 scale car models would realistically not be too out of scale from the 28mm scale models that Necromunda are.
