Charlo
Have some crisis in reserve, have firewarriors in devilfish/warfish push up super aggressively, pihranas with fusion blasters out in front to block/hinder opponent movement. Deploy someplace, deploy your firewarriors, shoot the crap out of stuff, grab them by the nose and kick them in the butt, when things get dicey, say "Shas'el, tell your warriors to hold their position...reinforcement is on the spoke" Drop Farsight and 30 crisis suits and drones down. Kill EVERYONE. "DROP ZONE CLEAR" Trevak Dal and Triszin 2 Back to top
BolterZorro
I like the drop zone clear idea. What is the optimum size of a crisis unit? Is it better to have 2*3 or 1*6?
Charlo
I like the drop zone clear idea. What is the optimum size of a crisis unit? Is it better to have 2*3 or 1*6? Entirely depends on what you are using them for, same as any other unit! A bigger unit benefits more from stratagems and can obviously deploy a much larger chunk of firepower in a single place, but may be overall unweildy to maneuver following that, not to mention also needing drones for support. 6 man units also mean two models with a 2+ save, pretty useful for tanking small arms. Plus the larger footprint means potentially covered by more drone units. I was going to say morale would be a big issue for a larger unit, however with Ld8 and auto-passing battleshock on a 6, you actually need to take a lot of casualties before you have a good chance of fleeing battlesuits. You'd need to lose 4 to even have a chance to fail by rolling a 5 (as the 6 still passes) and if you've lost four crisis suits, the other two are probably dead to rights anyway! Trevak Dal
Something to consider about crisis suits or stealth suits if you deep strike them. You can be up to 9" away from an enemy unit...but you shouldn't be unless you are going for a fringe build (stealth suits with the thing that allows you to deep strike closer than 9", and a sizable crisis squad with triple flamers, drop and burn, move to assault, pile in) In general practice, assault enemies with your devilfish if you take them (and keep their drones on, they use the vehicles bs until they detach and aren't limited by the closest target, so you have 3 burst cannons) You assault say, Intecessors (without a fist or hammer obviously), say something like "Mmm, hard work" then you fall back in your turn and shoot the crap out of them with your Warfish and the rest of your army. Pihranas are excellent as fast assaulters. You won't win the combat, but if you assault a tank and they fall back you give them a fusion blaster to the face. Charlo
Stealth Suits are exceptional at harassing enemy units. The -1 to hit is great and the unit can usually fit easily into cover. Often charging an enemy unit with them is a fine tactic too, just watch out for Pistols!
Triszin
does a tidewall count as castle? load up tide walls with maxed stealth suit units
Panzer
Why would you do that? Putting Stealth Suits on tidewalls makes you just pay way too much for 4 S5 shots you could have had cheaper with 2 Firewarriors instead.
