I'm an ITC noob, but I like the format and would like trying to optimize my army for ITC. I hope you all may be able to help by pointing out any errors or glaring weaknesses. I'll provide a little game plan after the list.

I've previously only played super aggressive chaos lists, found if I don't get that really good first strike, I usually end up losing. My last ITC game, I actually had a hard time getting all my melee units in the fight, so I want to try a hybrid melee/ranged shooting list. The Relic on the Knight depends on the opponent (Helm vs flyers, Khornate for big nasty invuls, Quicksilver against long range gunlines, Carapace for hordes, etc.), but I think a sleeper is the Rune with Galvanised Hull. A couple of popular ways of taking down Knights is mass AP-1 (...AP-2 is wasted if they rotate shields) or smash them in combat. The rune helps both scenarios!
 
Most of the army is pretty self explanatory. The rough plan is first turns to play cagey.
 
-Against shorter range gunlines and melee lists: Use the knight's, wardogs's, and Deredeos's range to force them out of their castle. Play on the board edge to maximize shooting before countercharges. Screen with the CSM against Melee and hang back to cap objectives against the gunlines.
 
-Long Range Gunline: Knight, Warglaive, Maulers, and Discolord should be in combat by turn 2...some even turn 1. Put lots of pressure on while the rest scoops up objectives and continues to pick things off.
 
-Against Flyer Spam: Hopefully a Helm on the Knight will allow him to do some work. The War Dog autocannon strat and the derodeos should help. Huron and the Sorc can bust out some mortal wounds too.
 
-Chaos Soup: Try to kill one plaguebearer unit each turn using Death Hex. Screen deep strikers with CSM. Then the use superior speed to setup charges
 
-Knights: Dreadblades take path to glory instead! Death Hex is money! Try to pick on one knight at a time, which seems doable.
 
Anything I'm missing??! Overlooking?
