Renegade Earthshaker Batteries

Hey guys, I’m thinking of adding a spearhead of r&h earthshaker batteries (the non carriage variant) to my Khorne Daemonkin style army. Just wondering if people have had good experiences with this unit.

They seem cheap for the gun, but they don’t get the regiment bonus and you can’t really buff them so am I better off spending the points on something else for a back line shooty unit? Not an expert on the game so any advice is welcome.

As Marbas notes, a Basilisk is more points efficient due to its ability to move and the fact that the Bassy is 7 points cheaper than the Earthshaker Carriage.

Having said that, I love my R&H Earthshaker Carriages. Solid and fluffy firepower at a decent points cost (13 more points than a Bassy).

But would you reeeeeaaally be moving it that much? The static one is quite a bit cheaper if you’re taking like 6 of them, and they can still shoot if something gets into combat with them... maybe I just want them to be better than they are for the sake of cool haha Edited by Jamesb_05

Good point James. I've been using Bassies in my IG armies for 19 years and I can probably count on 2 hands the number of times I've moved them. I've been using Earthshaker Carriages in my R&H armies for 2 years and I've never said to myself during a game "I wish I could move my artillery."

I'd go with the rule of cool.

For fun, here are some images of my Tallarn 23rd's Basilisks and my Nostroman 9th's Earthshaker Carriages:

A Nostroman 9th Earthshaker has already ranged in and has just received the order, "Fire for effect, over."

IG, "We are many. They are few."

Nostroman 9th, "Hell's Horde."
