Today in Titanicus I...

Recommended Posts

Seeming that our catch all thread was closed, I thought we better open up one that was the whole purpose of the original thread.

Can we not close this one please, most of us seem to just want one thread just to chat, not for future info, but just to chat about the hobby and to socialise. No idea what to call that but closing the old one because it has to be categorised and recorded is against the whole point of the thread in the first place. This is a thread for socialising and making the most out of the hobby. Please stop turning every thread into a Wikipedia article!

So what did you do or think about with regards to Titanicus today?

Today in Titanicus I decided to buy some aircraft from the upcoming Aeronautica Imperialis and use them on my bases, I am going to model my Warlord stepping on one with the pilot trying to escape.

Today in Titanicus I am currently magnetising a Reaver, just waiting for the last magnet to set in place so I can finish the build off. That'll leave me with two Warhounds and another Reaver to do, might start on another Warhound pair afterwards.

The abbreviation for this is problematic so I’m going to use ‘today in the hobby’...

TITH I finished painting my 4 Acastus Knights. I finished my additional 2 Cerastus and 3 Questoris a couple of days ago so I now have a nice set of two banners of each type, all in House Taranis colours.

I also received my custom dice bag in Legio Ignatum stripes (looks amazing), ordered a Warp Missile and Quake Cannon and drooled over the AI starter box.

Quite a busy day, altogether!

How about: TIAT

Oh dear that was unintentional, I am a bit of a T** for not picking up on that.

How were the Acastus Knights to build?

That was my whole point of making the thread. This is a fun, supportive group of hobbyists, painters, and players (far more so than most corners of the Internet forum scene) and I wanted a place to talk about our niche game.

Go look at Dakka’s 30k section when you want to see how a section can degenerate into infighting.

I don’t understand the idea of closing a catch all thread because the information was hard to categorize. There’s no more rumormongering, GW operates out in the open. A separate tactics thread is totally cool but I just wanted a place to talk with you guys about giant robots.

Today I’m getting a new flat watercolor brush to use for contrast paints on broad surfaces. Hopefully that reduces brushstrokes.

How were the Acastus Knights to build?

I found them a little bit fiddly and it felt like it needed more mould line cleaning than any of the other AT stuff. A lot of parts per Knight (full sprue per Knight after all).

They are great to paint though.

I found them pretty straightforward, not a great deal of posing though, especially in the legs, so i dont imagine ill buy many more, if any tbh.

I will be getting some at the end of the month but I am unsure with all the talk of OPness if it is worth buying the terminals if there is a chance their points might change soon as a reaction. Do not feel like buying cardboard that may change at anytime.

Earlier today base coated a Poryphyron in House Taranis colours while foolishly staying up really late watching a byelection result. It's a ridiculously detailed kit.

This evening I picked up another reaver, that I'll paint as the special character Lucius Praetorian. Also grabbed a couple of Cerastus knights, because for once they were in stock. I refrained from buying any more Acastus knights. Four is enough.

 I´ll paint my Knights also as House Taranis. Do you paint them red or blue? And Lucius Praetorian is also on my painting table.

Cerastus are fun to build and even paint. I do wish they’d been designed to have their legs splayed more without extending the hydraulics.

Can any of you long time fans confirm those planes are roughly to AT scale? I don’t know how big their hands are.

I'm going with red. I found earlier versions of the logo on 40k Fandom. I think that top design is going to be quite achievable even in freehand.

I'm going to base them on the same muddy stuff as my titans though. Presumably yours will be on Mars, like your own titans. That obviously makes a lot of sense for Taranis, but I want mine to fit in wiht my titans.

A nice model to build, quite easy to incorporate magnets (see http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350487-mendi-warriors-adeptus-titanicus-project-log/?p=5353718 for more details). A little bit more mould lines than with previous kits (where it was close to none), a couple of tiny pieces that are prone to break if too much pressure is applied when cutting them off the sprue (cables, railings, defensive guns), and mono-pose legs which is a bit of a shame but not a big issue when playing with the torso's orientation vs the legs and tilting it up or down a bit.

Today in Titanicus I'm looking at that Kickstarter whilst trying to work out if I can actually afford to go in on it. How reliable are they with their Kickstarters? I'm also building Warhounds.

I like the look of the gray contrast paint on my aluminum primer, today I’ll see how nuln oil looks in the recesses of that.

I messed briefly with talassar (sp?) blue contrast paint and it’s a really gorgeous shade of blue.

Troublemaker Games have a good track record with delivering their crowdfunders. The guy running the campaign (Evilandchaos) also posts here, ask him if you have any other questions. :)
