Well the ship may not have permanently sailed, if noone buys the resin knights but keeps buying plastic there is some hope theyll upgrade them down the line. Unfortunately FW is the last great bastion of old GW practices so it remains to be seen if they are listening.

I can live with them being resin, as I don't think I'll get many of them. Unlike the Questoris ones, I can see myself ordering some of these.

These guys have been coming thick and fast. I think it just leaves the Asterion and the Warbringer Bellicosa before FW has "used up" all their 28mm designs at AT scale. It would be quite annoying I suppose if the Warbringer gun comes out in resin, but I could live with that - for myself at least - especially since I've already converted one.

I would really like to see some more actual titans for this game. I get the feeling I'm not alone in that. I think a small one (the Rapier?) makes a lot of sense, both in what it would add to the game (a speedy little gun platform) and because it would naturally be the most natural titan for 40k players to get at 28mm, since it would be (relatively) so small.

They really need to stop putting "blast" on every other gun though, its getting tedious.

Id debate whether this is good support too biggrin.png

With "good" support I meant that they are supporting the game with new models and rules on a regular basis. It was not meant to be indicative of whether the support is qualitatively "good" or "bad", which is obviously a subjective opinion - so I pardon if I have insulted your sensibilities; no slight was intended..

Well done! Always nice to hit a milestone! One question, though, where are all their weapons?!

Isn't this a contradiction in terms?

Not at all. The titans are painted. The guns are in the process of receiving paint msn-wink.gif

I also think the Atrapos looks like a pretty interesting knight. That's a very nasty melee weapon indeed. A unit of these with the Shielding standard will be at -3 strength for any incoming blasts too.

The gun is not trivial. Very few knights have a gun that works against other knights, but this really does. It doesn't kill them (much) but the concussive trait strips them of their orders, which is great. And of course the fusion trait means they're pretty dangerous, with a chance to even land crits - something that knights generally cannot do to each other.

So in the end I think these look a lot more successful than the Questoris admech designs. They're weird and different, and of course a lot depends on their cost, but their equipment does do really useful stuff.

The problem with concussive vs knights is you really need to first fire them to prevent their first fire or charge. Meaning you might be putting yourself in a very dangerous position for the rest of the shooting. Could work with your -3 blast weapon idea and a large enough banner though. I just have this problem with low-volume shot weapons with pretty low strength on a bs4 chassis; it's a large flaw with the magera and it's a flaw here. Honestly the acheron does the short range shooting a lot better.

The melee is contentious. I'll make a seperate thread and do the math so we can actually see where it excels and where it falls a bit flat, but that's going to be after work where I can reference some critical thresholds. But I'll also add that the low base strength allows for better ion shield saves to be taken, so it might get a little weird.

For funsies, Ion Shields do not work against melee attacks, RAW. The rulebook section goes "when a Banner is hit by a shooting attack...". Personally I like it that way, because while ion shields aren't a large bubble like void shields, neither do they go along the body and if an attack physically connects, in-universe it goes under the shields like it does in 40k / 30k.

Another titanicus-ism...

I'm going to go under the assumption that knights do get shields vs melee, since it starts getting goofy with explosions, mines, point blank-non melee attacks and the like. It's also the only instance where shooting is used in the core rules.

but they like to act like they do, what with cutting fluffy rules and customization in 40K for the sake of "balance" that never actually balances anything...

on the subject of the Aptrapos, I notice that the thighs don't have armor on them like the 28mm ones do... even though the "nee-pad" has been given the appropriate redesign to match...

Really like the new models (for me plastic vs. resin is moot except for the cost), but the stats seem... off.

I particularly am not liking the Concussive trait, but I'll take another look once they're out. I'd guess the release is only weeks away at this point.

We still have the last Acastus variant, and of course those other Knights (Dominus and Armigers).

You see, now we're getting into the real philosophical depth of the game. Is a Titan really a Titan without its guns? When being a Titan is all about wrecking face in the name of the Machine God?

These are the important questions!

Having recently gained some assistance (and churned out a commission for Mantic) I've finally had a chance to finish painting up my Reaver for my Mortis lads (and a banner from Sets F and H).

The weird little bit on the banner pole mount is there for alignment lugs as the pole mount is magnetised (designed with sockets, magnets provided in the kit) at that point.

nice work on the flagpole, it being on a ball socket sort of thing is an interesting idea, if you do it again on other Titans it would be interesting if you had it standing/walking in a pose that wasn't level so you can show of the flag keeping itself perpendicular to the ground.

not a fan of using blue for Mortis's blacks, I understand why, blue is definitely easier to work with for shading/highlighting, and that even GW has been doing it for their example models on the store page, but still... still just feels wrong to me.

It's not a floating joint - the ball and socket is glued into position. It's more so that the same mount can be used on different titans. This is actually a second holder, the one I built alongside the flags when I first released them is set for a warlord, so I had to make up another for the reaver.

As for the blue, I normally use greys for black but wanted to do something richer feeling to go nicely with the gold. :-)

oh I understood that the flagpole isn't actually mobile, just that in-unioverse it should be judging from the look of it... also unfinished sentence at the end of that first paragraph.

the blue does look great, much better job then I've ever done, it's more a pet peeve of mine when it comes to painting canonical units that they should be done the exact right way, which is why I never paint any of my minis as official Regiment/Chapter/Legio colors, because I know I can't do them justice.

As for the decal design process used, there's a bit of a walkthrough on the AT2018 facebook group which I'll (at some point) work into a pdf.

Are those GW bits for the actual banners?
