I like that it applies to being charged as well, gets that 'all rounder' vibe going. Also World Eater Berserkers are going to be absolute beasts once this kicks in. Well, more so than they are at the moment.

World Eaters warp Talons would not absolutely suck with this rule and WE trait as it currently is.

I don't know that this really boosts chaos melee units all that much (e.g. Warp Talons needing a way to not instantly melt, more than more attacks) - in my eyes this boosts mobile shooty units more.

 

I think Bikers are the big winners here; mobile enough to get close enough to make those attacks useful, cheap and moderately tough, good firepower so they're worth taking for anti-screen purposes anyway.

 

After that, combat characters also get scarier (do Daemon Princes get this?!? If they do, they're way up there for winners too. That actually might shift the maths towards Axe in some situations - however I'd have to run th maths on that)

 

Unfortunately I think loyalists benefit a lot more here, they have better mobile units that also have good firepower so they're useful in multiple phases.

 

I need to look at the Vigilus Raptor detachment, that *might* make them kinda appealing? My gut says no though

Blightlords with flails on a perfect turn will swing NINE S6 AP-2 D2 attacks with this. With their damage spill rule, that would be 18 dead 1-wound boyos on a perfect turn.

I don’t disagree, but my bar of not absolutely sucking is set pretty low. :P

 

 

Agreed about bikers. +2 attacks on the charge after dumping combi-bolters/specials sounds awesome.

Even on just regular Plague Marines, the Flail may actually be worth taking now, maybe.

World Eaters chosen with hammers, while still super vulnerable, would be very sexy on the charge. Lord for re-rolls, as always. 21 S8 attacks with a minimum size unit *drool*. 41 from a max size unit. Then burn 3 CP to fight again.

 

Even to just dump bolts into chaff and charge with chainswords, very cool.

I second WE raptors with the specialist detachment and an HQ with its relic. They'll make that charge a fair amount of the time and have 4 attacks each.

 

Possessed could also be a big deal. Daemonkin has been on the edge, but this might push them over. d3 attacks base, +1 from Shock Assault, then +1 str and attack from daemonkin detachment strat, and the daemonkin detachment warlord trait means they also cause a mortal wound on a 6 to wound. And then of course there's a bazillion other daemon keyword buffs.

 

Terminators might also be very interesting as they have strong weapons.

My World Eaters saw this rule and started drooling.

 

+1 Attack if they Charge, are Charged or Performed a Heroic Intervention? On TOP of the +1 Attack for charging with their Legion trait?

That means my 8-man squads of Berzerkers get (for their first round of attacks), 5 Power Fist, 28 Chainaxe and 8 Chainsword attacks, BEFORE they fight again. That is INSANE

My 2 squads of chainsword equipped Chosen:

 

Laughing in Shock Assault.

My Chosen with Chainswords and Flamers/Combi Flamers are looking at those hordes and laughing.

 

The question on my lips though is the question I'm surprised that no one has asked yet: Has this shifted the Marines vs Cultists finally in the direction of Marines? Marines if you're factoring in damage output per MSU in shooting and combat outperform Cultists at all levels, they are harder to shift when in cover and they have a smaller foot print (which can go against them if you're trying to spread out).

 

Right now, I'm looking at it and starting to think my cultists are going to start collecting dust.

 

 

So what legion or warband traits can really capitalise on this?

Flawless Host, more attacks for these guys? Yup that is scary.

 

But tbh it benefits all Legions in some way as CSM are more choppy in general than Loyalists. Now I just hope they have updated rules for the less loved Legions (comeon Word Bearers, stop being rubbish). Basically I'm looking at those "Codex supplements" and hoping they give CSM the same.

Alpha legion and night lords chainsword bikers are going to be some decent units with this now, chuck in mk of nurgle, cast miasma on them, AL become-2 to hit at range, NL with strat are -2 to hit in shooting, 4 shots a piece, then 3 attacks on the charge with the NL bikes causing -2 leadership on their own. That's some fun right there

Emperors children might profit a little because of their "always fight first" rule, even if its not great trait but it is a little boost. Same for noise marines. they usually pretty mobile and get some shots out before charing into something - but not that big of a deal basically chosen can do tje same. If posessed get that rule they also get a little boost. Edited by Maschinenpriester

Thinking about the fact that my brick of 20 Rubricae usually has Prescience on them and already does a fair amount of damage when taking a charge from an opponent. Now this could get downright nasty. 

 

Black Legion Marine Horde will also be loving this, especially when Merciless Fighters kicks in.

 

Warp Talons and Possessed will have fun. So will Termies with Chainaxes/paired Lightning Claws.

 

Mutilators? Hmmmm.....

 

I agree that the biggest winners will probably be Raptors and Bikes because they have the mobility to have a good shot at getting in, and then with chainswords, they're going to be 3 attacks apiece (4 if World Eaters).

The Flawless Host also get a nice boost from this, more attack rolls means more chances for extra hot rolls.

 

Also I’m fairly sure the codex has to drop for this to go into effect

Is this rule in effect as of now or do we need to wait for a release?

It becomes official for C:SM when the codex drops, and at that point they'll drop an errata/FAQ to add it to everyone else. Until then, we need to be patient .
