Commander_Moustache
Hey all, I have just started a deathwatch army (or rather an army using death watch rules) and I have some cavalry models I wish to use as bikers. But the question I have to ask is, what numbers should I use?I have 6 left over, from parts of a previous project but should I go for 2 squads of 3 or one squad of 6. Just FYI I have a squad of Terminators and 2 Terminator characters in the army as well, if that helps support the extra beacon.
Black Knight
It really depends on how many points you have, six is nice but I cannot always fit that many in and just add 3-4 into a killteam to split off with a Vanguard. Commander_Moustache
2k, though I must admit I lean towards to 2 smaller numbers still, due to the light unit hunter nature and to run the flanks
IronDreddKnight
I go for 2 squads of 3 so I can take storm bolters on the Sargents. Gives you the same output as another bike for only 4points. Prot 1 Back to top
Mobius0288
I have 8 in total and I would say 8 is the max you would need. It gives you flexibility to run 2 units of 3 or 2 units of 4. If you run 2 units of 3 or just a single unit of 4, that gives you a spare biker to put in a kill team for a CC focused unit. Yeah, there is little benefit to go with big squads. MSU gives you both extra gear, ensures no one will run due to morale, and forces enemy to potentially overkill. One interesting trick is padding the bikes with Vanguard for some extra wounds, objective secured, and fall back/shoot/charge ability if you split them off your vets. This costs you sarge equipment, though. IronDreddKnight 1 Back to top
