I like to have a fair amount of reliable, heavy long-range firepower. Your army seems short on this important element. I wonder how you anticipate using your force against two prototypical enemy forces: a long range shooty army and a fast-moving horde army.

To be brutally honest all the infantry doesn't offer much
As Rob points out there isn't much At in there
Even with the buffs to SMs coming youll still lack in that spot.

I'd define a role for each detachment and then select units based on that. At the very least you're probably better of bubble wrapping the lascannon teams in the infantry squads especially with Tallarn

The main point of the army is run forward with the gallants and smash. The SM go forth to claim the midfield while the guard hang back. The knights, with any luck, should absorb most of the enemy fire and distract them for a couple of turns. They are deployed as far forward as possible then move and possibly advance then use the stratagem to charge.

So i would say either drop the Guard Elemtens in favor for more Marines or the other way around.

There is no real benefit in playing both.

Also save the Points on the Powerfist+Plasma Pistol, with the Knights in the Front there will be no Enemy left in Charge or Pistol Range.

The problems I run into are the models I own. To run this list I already need to buy, build and paint 2 more magnetised Questoris Knights. My last one (with other projects as well) took me about four months to do.

As well, most of the guard are unpainted so I need to do that too.

The silly idea is to try to build a FUN list that gives enough CP to run knights. It also is an idea to have it not be a cripplingly blow to lose a knight. I find it funny that an enemy player would be desparately trying to bring down one knight, possibly succeeding, then 2 more rip into their lines.

For that purpose, would it work?

it depends on the Army you face and the skill off your opponent.

Some Armys have big problems to deal with Knights while others take them down in one Go. (My personal Highscore where 2 Knights in one Turn)

The biggest problem you will face is screnning.

If your opponent is screnning properly your Melee Knights will never make it into CC with a valid Target.

So you should clear a path for your Knights with the Guard and Marine Elements. Ultramarine Interssesor are now by far the best option for that.

and if Models are a problem try Proxing or borrow Models from a Friend. I myself allways try my Lists with Proxys before i go and buy the Models i need.

Good idea, I have knights just not enough questoris. The guard just need painting and the marines are done. As for UM, I prefer RG for tactics and playstyle. This army starts as close as possible to the enemy, using the steady advance strat on one Intercessor squad and rapid fire on the other 2 (vigilus and codex) to fire same amount as shots as if not moved. SFTS is used to move into/towards mid-board cover to start clearing screens.

If your Guard element is meant to stay back it really doesn't need to be Tallarn. I love their regiment trait, but it's made for fast movement and board control.

When it comes to a static backfield Cadians are simply best. They don't like moving much and are more accurate. So in your list I would go with Cadian and distribute the Lascannons in the infantry squads instead of a HWT, because that will die instantly. Vox Casters can be good in that set up, but it might be more helpful for this list to just get a second Company Commander and 1 or 2 more squads.

The Lord Commissar doesn't add much for your stated purpose, because you want your units spread out on your homw objectives, not bunched up in his bubble. The Conclave also doesn't help hugely, because again, you want your Guard controlling your backfield and your Marines and Knights moving up.

I like the idea in general, and it can certainly work, but you will have serious weaknesses you need to consider. :)
