Ah I'm with you. You're referring to the Auxiliary detachment he'll often sit in?

 

In larger games I think it would be fine to take Guilliman in a Supreme Command Detachment. In smaller games where he ends up in an Auxiliary because of points savings, it is essentially a balancing factor I guess.

 

Does make taking him, as I mentioned previously, in a skewed list geared for him rather than slotting him into more varied types of lists.

I'm not sure I understand the omission of Chapter Tactics to... the author of said chapter tactics. That just feels really non-intuitive. :)

 

Oddly enough I don't feel like I'm handicapping myself at all by not taking him... except in the case of all the Knights popping up (They're back in a big way here.)

 

On the other hand I definitely won't feel like he gives me too much of  an advantage in an every day kind of game. Truthfully after I sold my first Guilliman, I've been very slowly painting a new one and eventually when he's done I'm going to be fielding him.

With all the stuff we got now it's looking like we won't need any crutches competitively. At least until all those Xenos get bonuses for being mono build.
