Imperial fist centurion and movement

Hi All,

I would like to try a small detachment of imperial fists.

It seems to me that their strength lie in the spam of bolts and the centurion seems to be an iconic al unit for them.

I would like to run some devastator centurion with maximum bolts and heavy bolts to take the maximum out of the chapter tactic.

My question is due to their relatively short range and lack of mobility what are the tricks and tips to get them in range for shooting first turn without exposing them too much?

A Captain with the Indomitable trait for cover a bubble. If you want, you can use a Phobos Captain, drop him a few inch outside your deployment zone in a more aggressive position (covered by Infiltrators) and then walk the Centurions into cover range. But this depends on the layout of the board.

You can start your centurions in a bastion, disembark and then move. It gives you a nice little extra movement and if you’re going second it gives a much needed extra layer of protection

Is using a land rider crusader recommended instead?

The problem with land raiders is they are bullet magnets. And they aren’t cheap...T8 but only 16 wounds. Whereas a bastion you can shoot out of and it is T9 and 20 wounds!, also it can’t be locked in combat so the dudes inside can shoot at anyone attacking it.
