Emperor's Warbringers chapter project

Hey guys,

with the dawn of Warhammer 40k 8.5th edition, I had decided to start a primarily primaris army.

Ideally something that would be 1.) "cool" , 2.) give me freedom to play multiple chapters 3.) would give me an excuse to buy all the nice new models.

Also, I had become tired of my old  Ultramarines and GreyKnights...as well as having a Deathwatch army.

Now I am starting to build the relativly unknown Imperial Fists successor chapter "Emperors Warbringers" and wanted to post some WIP and process pictures...

Here we go - first few image dumps:

Group shot of most of the current "finished" models.

Almost all are at a good tabletop standard and could use some more love -- but I always run into the danger of spending too much time on a line infantry man then.

These guys are on the table at the moment, at decal stage; and should get an update post later today

let me know what you think ?

Wow this army is extremely well done...is that your terrain also?

Krash

Thank you Krash - the terrain is a big urban board at Warhammer World. The Warbringers fought alongside Custodes and Knights against the Deathguard in a 4500Pt game

Some updates :

These still need weathering and details added

A fine army. I see you put in a lot of effort; basing this army on a canon but little-known Chapter, gives you the freedom to create your own original HQ and Elite units, while allowing you to claim Chapter Master [Your OC] valiantly fought in [insert canon event].

Any ideas for the Chapter Master, his Captains, their Champions, and other heroes of the Chapter?

Thank you & exactly right . it gives me freedom but also some "legitimacy"

I haven't dug that deep into it at this point to be honest. I've thought about the company I want to display though.

I could really use some help to outline the location of the chapter and participation in conflicts, as I am not really knowledgeable about those story arcs in the lore/universe.

"changes" with my warbringers:
Moved the company marking from the leg to the knee, and adhering to the codex. Makes it more visible and a better pop of color.

Black helmet for sergeants, off white stripe for veteran status.

Sergeants have white tac markings, rest black.

Its tough to go full "olive black" colorscheme on the tabletop, as you run the risk of the army looking like a brown "blob".

Regarding names and lore:

I wanted to keep the Chaptermaster as per "lore" to be "Raynald Hoare" ; haven't converted any mini yet, but maybe a Marneus Calgar will receive the conversion.

As I'm building up the 2nd Company, which has been near annihilated in a past conflict,  my rationale is it has seen almost complete re-fielding with Primaris Brothers.

As for the Cadre of the 2nd:

Cpt Tylaeus

Lt Garadon

Lt Lydus

Ancient Carius

Cpln Oreas

Apth Julan

Sgt Boreas

Sgt Tor

Sgt Lordann

Sgt Hagen

Relic Leviathan Dreadnought Tarentus

Redemptor Drednought Vorn

If I play with mini-marines ( typically a smash captain or a chaplain with the new litanies) I already painted them in the Colors of the 5th Company - Captain Phazas and Chaplain Valac- those names are actually in the Black Library books about the warbringers

Following the near complete destruction of 2nd-4th companies of the #emperorswarbringers during their stand against hive fleet leviathan securing the flanks of Ultramarines and Mortifactors in 997.M41 - the remaining veterans get redistributed to other companies and following Robute Gulliman’s Ultima Founding the 2nd Company is replenished with primaris marines.
Part of company command is Lieutenant Garadon.

Redemptor Dreadnought Vorn

Being part of the early days of the indomitus crusade - Sergeant Vorn was one of the first Primaris Marines to wage war against the enemies of mankind. Having earned many accolades and honors throughout his service as a greyshield, wearing the yellow livery of the Imperial Fists, he was one of the first Primaris Marines to join the ranks of the dwindling Warbringers chapter. Serving as one of the Veteran Intercessor squad leaders in the Second Company, he was grievously wounded, during operations in the Segmentum Ultima. His entire squad was near annihilated, holding the gates of Veridius Prime - ensuring an Imperial victory almost single handedly. He was the first Redemptor Dreadnought to be commissioned in the chapter, standing tall next to his brother machines Tarentus and Tyrus. #Onlyindeathdoesdutyend

Being part of the early days of the indomitus crusade - Brother Hagen was one of the first Primaris Marines to wage war against the enemies of mankind. Having earned many accolades and honors throughout his service as a greyshield, Hagen was transferred to the Emperor’s Warbringers soon after the battle of Rawcus. Serving in one of the Intercessor squads in the Second Company, he was a survivor of the battles at Veridius Prime. Having served next to legends as Sergeant Vorn, the honor of wearing the banner and helm of the 2nd company was bestowed on him
