Dipping my (Iron) Pinky in... 1500pts

Got some casual games this weekend and decided to give the new codex a whirl.

I'll be using my Heresy Death Guard minis so there's a little count-as in here but I felt like Iron Hands fit the fluff best as the Chapter Tactic.

Looking at this

Battalion

Captain

- Relic: The Primarch's Wrath

- WLT: Storm of Fire

Lieutenant

- MC Bolter

Tactical Squad

- Missile Launcher

Tactical Squad

- Missile Launcher

Tactical Squad

- Missile Launcher

Dreadnought

- Twin Heavy Flamer

- Fist with Stormbolter

2 Company Veterans (filling points, extra wounds for the buff characters)

Devastators

- 4 Missile Launchers

- Cherub

Contemptor Mortis

- Twin Kheres

- Cyclone Missile Launcher

VANGUARD

Chaplain

- Terminator Armour

- Combi-Flamer

Cataphractii Terminators

- 5 Storm Bolters, Grenade Harness

- 3 Power Fists/ 2 Chainfists

Aggeessor Squad

- 4 Twin Flame Gauntlets

Relic Contemptor

- Dread Fist/ Chainfist, 2 Plasma Blasters

Basic plan is stand back and shoot missiles at things with Ap3 from Devastator Doctirnes (or ap1 frags). Dreads are effective well into the low wounds due to doubling the damage tables too. Captain and Lieutenant buff things.

9CP will probably mean making him a chapter master, orbital bombardment, +1 to hit on Terminators and letting the Mortis move and shoot with no penalties.

What do people think? :D

Needs more dreads IMO

I second that. An Iron Hands army does not say it has "too many Dreadnoughts" before it runs out of Techmarines to maintain them; it does not say it has "run out of Techmarines" before every single non-Dreadnought, non-Scout member is dead.

Well I don't have anymore (yet...).

I've played three games and it has worked well enough so far!

AP3 Kraks/ AP1 Frags are utterly amazing with Devastator Doctrine. Really impactful and much more versatile than Lascannons. Also AP2 Kheres Assault Cannons are beautiful.

The 6+ FNP is never bad, it won me a game today where my captain tanked enough wounds to survive a tesseract vault and claim the last objective.

Aggressors with FNP are RUDE (and also Rude in general with the new rules....)

The bubble is a little weak, being full of one wound models but can take enough of a hit for a few turns.

Cataphractii terminators with FNP are RUDE too. Even just combo bolters, swapping to Tactical Doctrine makes them very nice.

This is my current list, I just give 1 dread rerolls each turn while staying in dev doctrine until turn 3 and just march up the table while the agressors hold back field objectives and the intercessors move forward as needed. It's won 3/3 so far but yet to face any knights or similar
