The ancient and proud Aeldari race is split into various factions. The stoic and noble Asuryani live their lives adrift on planet-sized Craftworlds. The depraved Drukhari venture forth from the dark metropolis of Commorragh to raid and pillage. The mysterious Harlequins travel the galaxy according to their unfathomable whims via the webway. And the newly formed Ynnari, comprised of members from all walks of Aeldari life, are united in the desire to awaken Ynnead, god of the dead.

 

The Aeldari are a psychically sensitive race, and the fragile balance between these disparate cultures has been disturbed by the Psychic Awakening. These factions have become embroiled in a full-scale internecine war for the future of their people.

 

Ancient divisions yawn ever wider, the complex fabric of alliances and uneasy truces unravels, and self-righteous leaders on all sides attempt to rally support for their causes.

 

So yeah, this smells more and more of Ynnari by the minute, if you ask me. There'll be another update this Monday according to the article. Guess we'll see more then.

 

By the way, anyone with up to date Eldar knowledge knows what's on the location the map shows? I remember Alaitoc and Iyanden being around Ultramar, but I'm not sure about it.

Its going to last at least until the end of the year if its more than 2 books so they might take a while to hype it up. I doubt the first book is for pre-order on the 14th but who knows.

The symbol marked on the map on the website is centred just east of Ultramar. Not really in any known 'named' location that I'm aware of.

Big thanks to the mod who deleted/hid my post due to duplicate information when there was a paragraph I wrote at the bottom of it. Great stuff.

 

Anyway, to sum up my thoughts again: this has the potential to be very interesting. I very little (0) faith in GW's ability to write a good campaign story, but it certainly appears that they are approaching things in a new way. With all of the uncertainty related to the future of the Eldar there could be some massive repercussions resulting from this storyline. That being said, I'm still looking forward to the models far more than I am the lore at this stage. Website looks great though and I'm keen for the next update.

The Ynnari thing is far to big to not have been touched upon until now so i'm eager to see the fallout.

 

Plus maybe Dark Eldar will get Vect?

I suppose the crux of the matter is this: what will the Eldar look like after this is done? What role do the Ynnari play going forward? They always felt out of place to me, like the WHFB End Times army lists, simply an excuse to play lots of Eldar models from different factions together on the tabletop. Are they going to continue to function in this manner or will they attain an aesthetic/niche/identity of their own? And depending on the answer to the latter, what does that mean for the existing Eldar factions?

 

Seems unlikely that they'll merge or fold armies together, but still, there could be sizeable changes afoot. I'm curious to see how far GW will go.

Maybe the elven civil war will be a segway for GW to promote a "mono-faction" benefit similar to the new marines.

Well, curiosity got the best of me, so I went and looked for the most recent Craftworld map I had, which is from the Gathering Storm 2, and as it turns out, it seems that aligning the maps reveals that Craftworld Iyanden's right around the spot marked by the new map.

 

Please excuse that the maps don't align perfectly, but no matter how much I move and scale the map, as long as the center of the galaxy and the Warp storms near the spot line up, Iyanden's on or right around the marked spot.

 

 

Considering Iyanden's now allied with the Ynnari, and that during a recent Slaaneshi invasion, members of all Eldar factions came to Iyanden's aid... yeah, I can see where this might be going.

Love the interactive map. So far we only know that the Aeldari are fighting amongst eachother and that the first campaign will be near the T'au Empire territory. Monday we'll get the first update.

There are wings above the map with a tiny Eldar rune in. Looking v close it looks like it might be the rune for striking scorpion exarch.



Arhra the missing original striking scorpion phoenix lord?

Edit: I don't think it is. Triangle, two cross bars and a diamond. That rune doesn't have a meaning I can find. Nevermind.

The idea of an all-Eldar story is actually pretty interesting - almost all Eldar stories are about them vs Chaos, them vs Necrons, them vs Imperium.

Looking forward to next week's reveal, although I was hoping all this psychic awakening stuff would drop after the last two supplemental SM books.

So, assuming that "reinforcements" mean all of the Space Marine updates (models and supplements), you might get your wish Red_Shift.
