** Work in Progress **

This will be my WiP thread for my sisters of the Order of the Steel Rose, Forge World Psyther and Astra Militarum of Fect.

sister.php?bpe=A1A1A1&bpj=A1A1A1&bp=A1A1

Original Order: Order of the Bloody Rose

Figure of Legend: Saint Isabella

Background: The Order of the Steel Rose was formed in M39 due to help shore up the Juran system and ensure that it would never fall from the light of the emperor. This system is a key staging and resupply area for many campaigns in the southern regions of Imperium controlled space. The first Canoness of the order was Saint Isabella. A strict adherent to the guidelines of the Orders Militant she was granted this honor upon attaining Saint-hood after purging a cult of Nurgle off of an important hive world supplying millions of souls to the Astra Militarum. The Order of the Steel Rose was given control over the entirety of the Juran system excluding the Forge World Psyther and has forged the system into one of the most pious and productive systems in the Imperium.

Home System: The Juran system is home to Forge World Psyther, the manufactorum planet of Fect, oasis moon of Leomu and the sister monastery moon called The Gift. The Gift is a lush agri-moon dotted with monasteries that pierce the clouds that surround the planet permanently with regular torrential rainfalls.

So, I know I want stained glass on my exorcists. I'm thinking over covering the door panels with hand painted stained glass. Below is an example for me to use to identify where the separations will generally take place as well as how to split the colors. Just need to figure out how to getting the lighting effect correct so it appears that it is glass.

Information for the Astra Militarum of Fect will go here until I build their WiP thread.

I like the steel-gray armor. Are the sleeves and loincloth meant to be leather, like a blacksmith's apron?

Reasons to use the Steel Crusaders ('Codex: Space Marines' supplement): Because you think giving Sternguard Veterans a heavy bolter wtih special issue HEAVY BOLTER ammunition is ALMOST as much fun as shoehorning an Earthshaker cannon into a Land Raider.

Reasons to use the Iron-hearted Angels ('Codex: Blood Angels' supplement): Because you think the Librarian Dreadnought needs Furious Charge AND It Will Not Die to beat down a Chaos-worshiping punk and his Defiler, while a Stormraven needs a Vanquisher cannon to beat down this punk's Heldrake.

Yup. Either leather or cloth. I was inspired by the old monk of the middle ages (Europe) look. I wanted their armor to not be too fancy and for them to have plain cloth/leather. It is more about the mission and faith than glory.

I think the "Sisters Blacksmith" theme is a good one.

"Treason and heresy broke the Emperor's realm, but faith in His Immortal Majesty shall mend it. We shall forge the Imperium anew, strengthened against temptation and corruption. We shall repair the shattered souls of all humans suffering under the tyranny of xenos, mutants, and heretics.

"And we shall CRUSH all who dare stand against the Emperor, upon the anvil of our faith."

You have an amazing skill with words. You mind if I use those quotes if I ever write some short stories about my sisters? Love them both!

I welcome the additional details on your Order.

Nitpicking:
Spoiler

The Juran system is home to Forge World Psyther, the manufactorum planet of Fect,

I presume Fect is an industrial world, like Vostroya? As there is potentially great rivalry between it and Psyther, how do its inhabitants view those of the forge world, and vice versa? If there is conflict between them- say the AdMech Magi who rule Psyther, unintentionally insult Fect's planetary governor- will the Sisters intervene to prevent the two planets from waging war against each other, possibly resorting to assassinating Fect's planetary governor to force the Fect PDF to de-escalate?

Canoness is misspelled. Note the word only has two "n"s.

I'll correct the spelling shortly.

Fect is a mining world. Low population but enough for the Order of the Iron Rose to recruit from. Fect provides resources to the Forge World and has a fairly amicable relationship with Forge World Psyther as Psyther has provided most of the planetary defenses for Fect. However, Forge World Psyther had good reasons to defend Fect. Forge World Psyther is the closest planet to the system's sun and due to <censored> circumstances all warp travel stops outside the system and has to enter in through from the farthest distance which makes Fect almost like a fortress and shield for Forge World Psyther. Also, Forge World Psyther has slowed their planet so that it is in perfect alignment with Fect. This has caused a permanent eclipse to be placed on Fect which has prevented the planet from growing most foods. The people on Fect live off of a mainly bean and root bland diet which has made the paradise moon of Leomu that much more desirable.

So, while Fect and Forge World Psyther have a decent relationship, the Forge World is using Fect as a shield. This is not lost on the planetary governers of Fect and they have done everything they can to insure that they get defenses as affordable as they can from the Forge World. The moon called "The Gift" is classified as a shrine world and orbits Fect exactly opposite of Leomu. This was engineered by Forge World Psyther many years ago through agreements for discounted resources from Fect. The elite did not want to see the dreary planet that is now known as "The Gift".

In regards to the paradise moon, Leomu. Visitors only stay on the side of the planet facing away from Fect. This is a vacation spot and the sight of Fect and "The Gift" from Leomu is considered an event best left unseen.

Anyway, this is just a few more tid bits of what I'm working on. I'll be updating the main post in the next few weeks with more details and with those details in a more readable format lol!

Mushrooms and other fungi are also recommended, as they do not photosynthesize, and are able to survive in lightless conditions.

Note: The description of Fect as a lightless mining world, made me compare it with the Night Lords Legion planet of Nostramo. Have any Night Lords warbands ever attacked Fect in an attempt to seize it as a new "home," giving your Sisters experience fighting Traitor Marines?

Forge World Psyther is actually the homeworld of an ancient advanced species. That species had developed warp inhibitors that prevent warping into the system. Forge World Psyther discovered how to turn the device on and it runs on energy that it creates itself. They have not been able to figure out anything more than what the device does. It was found in tunnels shortly after the Forge World was founded and the device was activated and kept running since then. It has been running and was classified by an Inquisitor of old that wanted to have it researched. Happily, to Forge World Psyther, the Inquisitor suffered a mishap while touring the Forge World.

I had not thought about the planet as planet in eternal darkness. More like a permanent eclipse. The moon blocks about 75% of the light so it looks like dusk almost all the time. This has also affected the recruits for the astra militarum that come from the planet. They are all light-sensitive and so focus on night operations. Also, the people of the planet are a hardy folk and since their number are so low they only take the best of the best. The planet has a small contingent of 200,000 imperial guard but 1,000 of those are the elite forces of the Militarum Tempestus. The guard forces are sent out when requested and refilled. Their tithe to the Imperium is 100,000 troops every 20 years. While the defenses of Fect are mostly automated the guard are used as peace keepers over the planet. Sisters that are drawn from the planet always wear their helmets or hoods to cover their faces as their gaunt skin and pale eyes tend to frighten humans from other sun drenched planets. The event leading the Fect-based sisters to always wearing a hood/helm happened when a Inquisitor mistook Canoness Saramilla as a heretic.

Canoness Saramilla proved her innocence to the Inquisitor as he tortured her to death. She is now viewed as a saint in the Order of the Iron Rose. Canoness Saramilla's final words were "Iron is my will and eternal is my love for my Emperor." This events of her life and career as a sister of the Order of the Iron Rose was immaculate and very few have achieved the honors that she had accrued over her short life. The truth of the matter is that the Inquisitor had fallen under the influence of Tzeentch and was traveling around moving pieces to affect the outcome of some future war.

Another character I'm working on is a recent Canoness that is currently being protected by the Custodes. I will be building a small contingent of Custodes to ally into the army from time to time and they will represent that aspect to protect Canoness Aoife.

Anyway.. wheeww... mind has been buzzing with ideas!

Also, on the Mushrooms idea... I love it! I was thinking beans, potatoes etc, but Mushrooms and Fungi work very well. I could also link in Fungi that glows in the mines for lighting and that the population have taken to growing vats of the fungi to provide light sources when under ground.

When I looked up the Canoness' name, I found an article on a character in Irish mythology. Is one of the Custodes named "Setanta, Cu Imperator- Hound of the Emperor"?

Read through that wiki. That is brutal. I had just grabbed the name from an Irish name list and really liked the sound and look of the name. Would be interesting to see if I could possibly work that into her backstory. Maybe it was revealed that she was pregnant after the battle or something and the Inquisitor had seduced her months before the campaign started and used sorcery to wipe her mind of it? I'll have to think a bit more on it but damn that is awesome! :D Again you impress! Thank you for that info!

Say the Canoness and the Inquisitor "fell in love" while fighting in an ultimately unsuccessful campaign. In the aftermath, the Inquisitor is made a scapegoat, declared a heretic and a traitor, and forced to flee. (It's up to you if these accusations are true or false.) To protect his "love" and their unborn child- or to prevent the Canoness from testifying, if the Inquisitor is actually a traitor- he uses psychic powers to wipe her memories of the campaign; the Canoness is left with an unexpected pregnancy, and feelings of love, hatred, grief, and a sense of betrayal, none of which she has an explanation for.
