Aquila question

Hi everyone,

 

I am currently painting up a Imperial Fists 5th Company Force and Have chosen to paint the Aquila's on the marines chest plate silver, rather than the red show on all official GW stuff. My question is have you painted yours like the official stuff or have you made small alterations to the colour scheme?

I find that a silver or gold chest eagle looks really good on imperial fists. Makes it look less cartoonish. I’m away from my models for the weekend but most of mine have silver chest eagles

Not Fists, but I frequently make those sorts of little aesthetic changes. It's lore friendly as well, as Marines are supposed to vary things occasionally to make it harder for the enemy to follow.

I paint mine in the same black of the 5th company trim.
However, I take a lot of liberties with my fists as i mix lots of pre heresy and post codex iconography together.
In fact even if they have black trim i don't even think they are 5th company XD

I've done all mine as red and never considered otherwise. Black, gold, silver, bronze would all work though imo.

I've painted mine in a dark grey, which I use for other parts too (e.g. holster, pouches). My Fists are basically only yellow, black and grey (aisde from some details and helmets of sergeants).
