To keep Psychic Awakening specific to Wolves (borrowing from other posts esp Valrak)

Looks like we will be in Book/Warzone 4 Prospero/Planet of the sorcerors

Or

No2 Armageddon

Maybe a bit of both?

Really hoping to see some more Wolf parts for models - personally my preference is for more weapons, rune stones, and strung fangs with far less wolf pelts than normal. Some bearded hatchet type close combat weapons would be very welcome to use instead of combat knives, and I'd love some character upgrade components as well.

And for the love of God, release our Battle Leader in a separate clam pack like the other Lieutenants.

I hope this makes " ashes of prospero " Canon.

And it makes sense given the premise " pyskic awakening".

Basically, ashes would be the lead in, into whatever this is.

This would make the most sense to me and the community FB page already strongly hinted at it BUT the French wargaming page that said Armageddon for us seems to be a reliable source of rumours

Dont see us getting a whole lot in terms of new models let alone units

It's an officially published work, why wouldn't it be part of GW's loose canon?

The issue is that our codex was written early in 8th but released later after the plot kept moving forward. This left out a bunch of interesting developments that people were keen on getting included.

That’s the reason for the disconnect because as you say it’s published by BL so there’s no reason not to be.

It wasn't just that but that the book had several lore breaking and incorrect information especially when compared to the other SM:Conquest books. They never defined what those lore breaking or incorrect information was. We know that several vehicles were written wrong either incorrect weapons, fitting terminators, Wolf Priest having their own black thunderhawks, and Ulrik personality taking a total 180, and Njal being totally spineless in that scene. Also Njal not knowing how to use psykers abilities to increase his own strength, but does so in his own novel.

I think it was written, BL authorized it, fans got it and went "What the :cuss: is this?", and BL didn't want to retcon it but made it "soft canon". From my understanding soft canon is a step to eventual retcon though in most other IPs.

Yea I skipped it for those reasons. I think most just want the details on the 13th. I think having the tie to the past so strong could differentiate us going forward if they are cutting some of our other unique bits.

This is the first time I've ever heard of GW using the term "soft canon" considering everything you've been told is a lie anyway. :D The only real "hard canon" they have ever had was simply those bits that were repeated so much that to simply have someone write something without them would make the work 'not a 40K novel'.

I would take it much like anything else officially published then, the contradictory parts get overwritten at some point, the stuff that is never written about again is just a dead-end, and the parts that jive with how things work is just fine.

Strange that so much would slip past the IP guys, since it sounds like GW/BL has been working to tighten that up in recent years.

I think that Ashes of Prospero stand out. the other SM:Conquest have been spot on and extremly accurate to the lore. Bound to have a lemon somewhere, and as you said GW is reigning in the authors about what they right. I feel as though current lore is much more set in stone than in the past.

also wasn't egil ironwolf written as being alive.

yes, and lets not get too distracted with the amount of issues in that book and focus on the psyker awakening (or whatever its called). I just wanted to say that Ashes of Prosper and Psyker Awakening shouldn't be connected unless we see something that does connect them. Otherwise its just random wishlisting.

they are making a lot more content now, more so in any other time in the company's history. sheer volume is just going to mean they can't get eyes on everything.

it's also a less of a stagnant creative setting now - the status quo has been shaken, no not everyone is on the same page of what exactly the status quo is.

there's a lot of BL books i would describe as soft cannon, most relevant to us would be the Ragnar series. Broad strokes still makes up Ragnar's backstory but there are a lot of contradictions in the details..

Only Chris Wraight (and ADB) books count as Wolf cannon :)

If we get warzone 2 Armageddon Id be more confident of new models, maybe even the rumoured boxset,as with Ghaz thatll be one of the biggest releases/hypefests

Canon is only determined by the official content creator/IP holder, we don't get to say what is and isn't canon. I'm just surprised that GW would move off their loose canon stance to have a more hierarchical canon view similar to another SciFantasy IP that had tiered canon, which is what having "soft canon" would be.

----------------

Unfortunately without a lot of details on exactly what role the Wolves will play, not much to say other than hopefully the Wolves bring the tempest against any sorcerers getting hunted.

It'd also be interesting to see some more beasts in the setting, instead of always having demons or Nids and the like - guess that'd be most likely to show up in the army of the Druhkari, and I've always wanted to hunt some dark elves...

That why I was hoping we’d see more story movement after wrath of Magnus. I thought that the idea of the spirit of Fenris rallying in the wake of cataclysm that it brought to be pretty cool.

Yeah, but hopefully the doesn't turn into another "be careful what you wish for" - the "spirit of Caliban" turned out to be a giant Nurgle demon that broke the planet up with its emergence.

Yea no, please not...
Some things need not be explained or linked to other stuff.

It is the Spirit of Fenris. The Accumulation of all things living on it, the lava rising from the ground, the mountains sinking into the sea and the churning of the ocean. Pure, Raw, Wild, Deadly, but life-giving.
It just is.

Likewise I would not want any of the Wolves our Company Badges are based on, turned into Daemon-like Warp-Characters or even tabletop models.
They are cool as flavourful background sagas and totems and maybe even as a vision.
But THE 'Iron Wolf' or 'Sun Wolf' or twin-headed Morkai should not appear as characters themselves.

+++++++

On one hand I am hyped about the Fourth Map of the Campaign and that we could go back to Propsero and Sortiarius.

But I hope we have a good reason to do so.
And a good plan.
Because an awesome show-up sequence, just to get slapped in the face would be embarassing and disappointing beyond compare.

I want us to get a proper target, a proper mission.
Make it LOOK LIKE we are just out for vengeance, like the wild brawlers we are.
But in truth we try to achieve whatever we are out to do under the guise of slaughter. And then a successful burned-earth retreat.

For example we could try to undo Magnus work and destabilise the connection of Sortiarius to the Real world, with the help of SoS/Grey Knights/etc.

I actually have to say that i tend to agree. My tongue-in-cheek joke aside i do prefer that our psychic powers seem to be based off of the Gaia theory rather than some trapped or whatever ancient Eldar god/goddess.

By this i mean to say that our psykers have the ability to channel the warp shadow (spirit) of Fenris (or whatever planet they're currently standing on).

***This gives me an idea about the origins of psychic power in the 40k universe. I'm going to point this a moment before taking my report to the amicus.

I would love the return of the talisman from 5th that let us deny psychic stuff that targeted the unit. That was a fun piece of wargear.

My pie in the sky wish is a return of russ as an Odinlike, wiser, badass primarch with some decent psyker abilities. Definitely not a werewolf russ. But this is a highly unlikely wish to come true as GW is reluctant to release 40k primarchs.
