its a spray base of leadbelcher from the can then Kantor Blue basecoat with an Agrax wash followed by Caledor sky  ...so far 

i hope to finish off the blue with a 50/50 mix of caledor sky/lothern blue.

Just perfect. I’m doing all mine as Bad Moons, so will be Iain this as reference! What have you used for the cockpit glass?

 

Is the metal - leadbelcher with nuln or agrax? Or both?

 

In fact I demand a full recipe and paint list (please!)

cockpit glass is a secret... well between you and me ok

Nice work! I do like your base. The green radar look is pretty cool but it's what a lot of people seem to be doing. The black is nicely reminiscent of the original game :)

Any chance of some underside shots Mithril? Which yellow did you use for the Bad Moons?

@Burni- I based the planes in leadbelcher spray, yellow is as follows : averland yellow base 2x thin coats, a complete coverage of Casandora yellow(wick away the excess so it doesn’t pool/stain) then an Agrax wash in recesses followed by a tidy up coat of 50/50 Averland/ Yriel yellow.

Metals were just leadbelcher washed randomly with Nuln oil then Agrax.

The checkers were based with ulthuan grey then I did fine lines with abaddon black and filled them in when I thought it looked right !..!

Brilliant, that helps as it was similar to what I had in my head (the main difference being that I’ve already primed with the last a bit of Averland spray I had but I did consider doing it in leadbelcher, so something for next time). But I know I’m on the right track now, although I doubt mine will look as awesome as yours.

 

Still not sure I’ll try the checks with my mega unsteady hands.

 

Underside shots would be appreciated as I’m curious about the landing skid and ordnance!

I'm going to spray my orks tomorrow.  Are you doing those checker with a brush?  They look better than mine done with a Micron pen.

Brush...   a very fine straight tip with watered down paint...and patience....

I painted my first DakkaJet yesterday and compared to yours it looks like one of the internet memes where you have a pro cake (yours) and then a terrible attempt at a copy (mine). Nailed it... :(

My Orks are going to be Goffs but damn your Deathskullz blue looks awesome. I am using contrasts for all mine as I am a terrible painter and wanted to try something new :P

I really think that contrast are the way to go on these models, especially over metallic basecoats.
