Armageddon Themed Missions / Narrative Campaign?

So I've been pondering for some time about playing some Armageddon themed games.

These would be 'Narrative' style games, so I'm looking for some missions that may be suitable.

Additionally, I'm thinking about using the Urban Conquest pack to play a campaign with my local club. The slight issue is that we don't have all that many Ork players, so would need to have some poetic license and fluidity about the campaign. I'm likely to invite some players and see what factions we end up with then make it work.

Does anybody know or have any ideas for possible missions I could use?

For the campaign I could just use the Vigilus setting but imo Armageddon is the iconic WH40k setting. Any thoughts regarding this? Does anyone have any experience of using Urban Conquet?

I just looked through Vigilus and there are 3 missions in the narrative section that would be easily modified for Armageddon and already have orks as the opposition, the 6th edition apocalypse supplement also has an entire section for Armageddon that might lend itself to some house rules/apocalypse sized games. Is your group open to some creative liscense? If they are I'd be happy to send you some pics of the Armageddon fluff/crunch from the 6th edition Apocalypse book, I really like the added rules and they could be translated easily to 8th edition.

Absolutely they'd be open to some creativity.

And I'm all about using the environmental rules to mix the game up, particularly if they help the narrative :) I have a bit of a dodgy version of Vigilus 1 so I'll have a perousal.

Any particular point in the timeline you had in mind (e.g. first, second, third war for armageddon, dark imperium)?

The slight issue is that we don't have all that many Ork players, so would need to have some poetic license and fluidity about the campaign.

No issue at all:

  • Eldar: "The tea leaves told me about the importance of this sandball for the survival of our dying race - we must intervene!"
  • Dark Eldar: "Oh look, many meat-things aka. future slaves in one place."
  • Chaos: "So, where in the dark gods names did the warp spit us out this time?"
  • Daemons: Orks are known to try chaos worship for fun and for grabbing 'weird dakka'.
  • Tyranids: "much biomass... om nom nom nom nom nom nom"
  • Necrons: "How dare the fleshlings desecrate our sacred ancient sand gardens and disturb our favourite pet rock?"
  • Necrons(Traizin): "We require THAT person for our collection."

Well, ok, I do admit - it is a bit hard to find reasons for Tau as Armageddon is a bit far from Tau Empire space. But I'm sure 'random misguided exploration fleet' will do.

Mhh... reading up on https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Armageddon the planet seems to be under invasion by deamons currently. Not a problem as you could alway make your campaign happen some time before the invasion.

if you go for 2nd, 3rd or post rift armageddon.  chaos is easy since the planet was invaded once and chaos cults are inevitable on a planet with tens of billions of people and a history of chaos shenanigans.

when the 3rd war for armageddon campaign was raging across the globe back in the early 2000s they pretty much said that game could contribute by being explained that they are occuring elsewhere and represented the many threats to the imperium taking advantage of the situation across the segmentum.  the power vacuum left by all those chapters, fleets, regiments etc rushing to armageddon meant that many of the imperium's enemies were free to cause all sorts of trouble.
