Marksmen Honour and Korvidari Bolts

chapter master 454

Recommended Posts

So kind of got disputed in a thread about this so may as well throw this over here and see what verdict comes of it (since the raven guard area isn't kinda quiet...wait...clever girl)

So the question comes from taking a phobos captain with his Master-Crafted Instigator Bolt Carbine (could be a meme in its own right saying that over and over again) then giving him the warlord trait "Marksmen Honour" and the Special Issue Wargear from the Raven Guard Supplement "Korvidari Bolts".

Does "Marksmen Honour" Work with the "Korvidari Bolts" or does it not?

I would assume yes as the bolts aren't actually a relic weapon (which honour doesn't work with) but instead a unique ability added to the model that allows it to augment its weapons stats. The weapon is still the same "Master-Crafted Instigator Bolt Carbine" (which isn't a relic, just standard wargear for the captain) so not a relic unlike if I were to take Ex Tenebris, then it wouldn't work (which makes Marksmen Honour due to the nerf it took in losing Re-roll to hit and Re-roll to wound, worthless normally).

I agree it needs clarification, but my take is on the more conservative side.

MH doesn't work with Relics, not just relic weapons.  Korvidari bolts are a relic which adds no LOS and 6" range.  So I would say that if you fire outside LOS and/or at max range to max range + 6" then you're using Korvidari and can't use MH because MH can't be used with a relic.  You could obviously take both on one character, but I think you would have to choose to use one or the other.

I would agree with this.

It's very similar to Bolter Discipline not being usable in conjunction with Deathwatch Special Issue Ammo.

You can take both, but can't use them together.
