Where do they make primaris?

The name says it all. Let me clarify a bit however.

 

Where do chapters have to send their marines to be primarisized?

Can they do it on the fly?

Templars and other fleet based chapters i assume do it this way.

 

But what about say a space wolf great company?

 

Would they need to go to a special place determined by Cawl or somebody else?

 

Would they need to go back to Fenris?

 

Can they make a stop at the nearest allied chapters homeworld and do it there?

They are made like any other regular marine of the chapter with the addition of the 3 Primaris Organs added into the whole process.

 

Chapters were basically given all the necessary knowledge and tech to produce their own when Guilliman and/or the Custodes and/or whoever came by.

What Slips said. Additionally, the Rubicon Primaris is shown to be a procedure undertaken by the chapter's apothecaries. So, it's still wherever the chapter would normally do that kind of thing.

 

Edit: For example, Calgar was not said to go anywhere for it, and in The Emperor's Spears novel it was shown to be very much an internal chapter action.

Fantastic thank you. I haven't bought any primaris yet but am watching the line closely. I may try may hands at the when their line is complete and thought I'd start learning some of the necessary background.

I would imagine that every Chapter can perform the Rubicon Primaris upgrade at their Fortress Monastery. I suspect it could probably be done in a large well equipped Apothocarion such as on a Battle Barge perhaps. Could it be done in smaller facilities like those on a Strike Cruiser? I don't know. Probably one for headcannon.

One additional point. The recent White Dwarf Index Astartes notes that the Dark Angels apothecaries and Techmarines are trying to do their best to learn the Primaris and Rubicon proceedures to make the Tech-priests attached to them redundant, while also limiting their access around the Rock.

 

From this it can be assumed that as part of the Indomitus reinforcements to existing Chapters, Biologis Tech-priests trained in the Primaris creation process came with it too and that currently most Chapters probably don’t have the knowledge and resources to do it all ‘in-house’ yet.

Yep, that is infidelity the case.  The Blood Ravens IA says the same thing as well, about mechanicus magi coming with the new gene seed.

 

The only known chapter so far to figure it out for themselves are the Emperors Spears.

Not cannon but I picture it being like the Halo Reach live action trailer "Birth of a Spartan", they get injected with the Cawl Koolaide and OH YEAH, PriMarines.
