Unknown founding chapter using Supplements?

Guys, I am a Minotaur player. For those using such an unknown founding chapter, are you using the supplements when you play? Such as Iron Hands.

Since we are of unknown founding, I wonder if it’s legit, rulewise.

Lore wise I’d feel comfortable saying, say, “we are of unknown founding but our waging war style is close to XYZ chapter so I’m using their supplement for stratagems, successor relics, warlord traits, doctrines and psychics”

Let me guys know what you think:)

Yep, this is totally legit, rules-wise. You won't get to use the Iron Hands character without actually being Iron Hands, but everything else is fair game.

The simplest way to do this would be to select the Inheritors of the Primarch Chapter Tactics, pick the Iron Hands (or whichever First Founding Chapter), then use the rules in the associated Supplement.

Actually a successor chapter dont even need to choose the primarch inheritor chapter doctrine. Can pick any mix of the successors tactics.

Though, they FAQed that if you say you are say a Iron Hands successor, you cannot use primarch inheritor tactic and choose another first founding chapter

Sure, why not?

Well because the supplement are made for successor chapters, and the first founding one.

Technically unknown founding chapter are not successor of any chapter :)

Man, it's just a game :P. I hope your group is not concerned with that detail.

It's your army, have fun ^_^

You're fine, you can use any of the supplements you want. Here's the rules from page 56 of the Raven Guard supplement, for example:

"If the successor Chapter you have chosen is one established in the background of our publications, its founding Chapter will often be known (for example, the Revilers Chapter is a known successor of the Raven Guard). If the successor Chapter you have chosen does not have a known founding Chapter but has the Inheritors of the Primarch Successor Tactic, and you selected the Chapter Tactic of a First Founding Chapter, your chosen Chapter is a successor of that First Founding Chapter. Otherwise, choose a founding Chapter that best fits your successor Chapter’s character."

So you can use any supplement you want, then you have to decide if you want a mix and match Chapter Tactics or if you'll use Inheritors of the Primarch. Either way, you unlock most of that supplement's rules, except the ones that are ONLY for the real Raven Guard or Iron Hands or etc and not their successors.

My mates actually push me for this haha, I'm the one resisting cause I'm too fluff oriented ;p But I'm asking the question here mostly because I'll go to Gibraltar GT.
