Undivided Kill Team: Inspire me!

Ahoy all,

The Confession: I haven't painted a 40k fig for about a decade... horrible I know

The Therapy: Build some Kill Teams to play with my son!

The Quest: I am seeking inspiration and ideas for a colour scheme for Undivided CSMs that I can use, but also add the odd specialist such as a Khorne Berserker.

Black Legion seems obvious but I find the all over dark scheme a bit dull to be frank - though I would love to be proved otherwise if somebody has a nice colour scheme as an exemplar.

I like the Crimson Slaughter look, but then they would all look like Khorne devotees.

So I'm looking for something in between. Having been 'out of the game' for a bit, I thought I might seek some ideas and assistance here where the modelling and painting is simply stunning

Thanks in advance and looking forward to your hints and suggestions - appreciated!

cheers

Paul

Iron Warriors could work. Lots of conversion potential and they've had followers of varying gods pop up in their fluff.

Fallen would actually be what I would personally love to see. Yes, the color scheme is dark, but the robes and red/white iconography tend to liven it up, especially since robe colors can vary. Each warrior would also be highly customized and have quite a bit of character.

Honorable mention: Fabius Bile's New Men. Again, open conversion potential and unique individuals.

You honestly cannot go wrong with Black Legion. The Black and Gold is so iconic in the 40k universe. But there are tons of options to choose from. I would play around with the B&C painters that are linked at the top of the website and come up with a color scheme you really like. I made the color scheme for my Oblivion Hunters with it (See link below).

I vote Word Bearers. Dark red armour, black shoulder pads, metal trim. They worship the Octed but the redness and the craziness always suggests to me they’d lean easily to Khorne.

2nd choice: Night Lords - some say they are more renegades than chaos worshippers but the propensity to murder means they can’t be far from falling to Khorne. The scheme on the back of the 10-man box is great.

Edit: ps I have also started Kill Team with my son. We are using 30k models and paint schemes, but the Kill Team rules. Heretic Astartes “counts as” for his Word Bearers, Adeptus Astartes “counts as” for my Alpha Legion. It’s fun! I may post more reflections on this somewhere, but don’t want to derail your thread.

Night Lords are also quite.... excessive when it comes to the violence and torture they do (Slaanesh). Many have visions and precognitive abilities (Tzeentch) and can be quite morbid and prone to dark moods (Nurgle)

You could do undivided marines as Fabius Bile's "new men". Conversation potential there is limitless. Rules wise, loyalists are better though. Could easily use primaris rules to counts as. Could also use Deathwatch rules as Alpha Legion.
