Strange release for me. The new stuff BT got is so paltry that I can't see why they weren't in the IF supplement. Looks like they were just used as the Imperium faction to ensure players on this side bought the book. Compared to the well thought out stuff we got for RG, UM and Sallies which is fluffy yet powerful it looks like this was phoned in.

All the additions to advancing, charging, melee bonuses etc are good looking on paper but this is a shooting edition unfortunately. We'll see the real extent when people are trying to get Crusader squads in a single LRC across the table against a Tau/IH/IF/Eldar castle.

The only thing the book tells me is that BT are now considered much lower down the food chain by GW, no matter how loud "we had a codex in previous editions" is shouted.

Considering that the Templars now have ways to help keep LRCs alive better, deny overwatch with their help, and multiple ways to boost your ability to close the gap then any mission that can't be won by sitting in your deployment zone firing guns is going to work quite well for them. The question is going to be just how well does all of it work in practice and what will the Meta look like in the near future.

Also going by the rules at the moment Black Templar also have full access to the Imperial Fist rules as well. I expect that to change in some way but it has't yet.

Whats more shocking is why the new Masters of the Chapter stuff is not on the Codex released 3 months ago.

Not going to mention anything about BT because its not "constructive".

Money. The same reason they put Chapter litanies in this book instead of the supplements. They want to create a reason for everybody to need this book.

It would have been pointless sub par bloat 3 months ago and its just a little fluffy throwaway for the character customisation crowd now.

What's that even supposed to mean? It's bloat if it comes in one book, but not if it comes in a separate one? It's pointless to add more options to some very one-note characters then but not now? It's sub-par to have them with those more options?

The chapter champion and ancient stratagems needed to be in the book, as anyone that wasn't ultras got screwed completely.

I wouldn't honestly go around complaining that one faction of CSM has something better than loyalists at the moment.....

Anyway, seems all codex marines list just got (seriously) more pre-game CP heavy in a way or another

but its usual that if there is anything better by Chaos then Loyal Marines --> then its the Black Templar stuff.

How is the quality of the fluff / background materials in these Psychic Awakening books so far? I haven't played 40k for over 20 years but still buy Codexes and background books (if recommended) because I love the setting and want to read more about the lore. So wondering whether I should pick these up?

PA1 is really bad. The narrative of PA2 looks a lot better from what I've seen, but neither has a whole lot in the way of narrative material (less than 20 pages lore each), and all of the art is recycled from previous publications. They're pretty low-effort, frankly, and I probably wouldn't recommend purchasing them if you're only after the lore

Its still bloat. Its nice for non-Ultramarines to get stuff but its really not very important.

Having options isn't sub par, its the options themselves that aren't great. Master of the forge will be used for the +1 to hit, maybe masters of sanctity will show up occasionally to super charge gunlines. The other stuff is just for messing around with.

We found the apex meta crafter here. Able to predict how a variety of new strats, relics and traits affect 7 different factions before they're even used, in the middle of an update wave.

Since this topic is about BT rumors in PA2 and it has been fully spoiled (at least for BT). I think we are done here
